Skeleton Crew | Episode 6 "Zero Friends Again" Review

Anyone else felt underwhelmed by this episode or was it just me?

Haven’t felt underwhelmed by this show since ive never even watched it whatsoever doesn’t interest me i am underwhelmed by disney making all these bottome of the barrel shows and them not making stuff off the old sith, kotor the mandalorian wars, stuff about darth bane trilogy or revan but nah we get a kiddie space goonies kids show smh 🤦‍♂️

I think having Skeleton Crew exist is fine, but I completely agree - they really need better people and stronger ideas to produce great shows. There's so much untapped potential, like the ideas you've mentioned that would make for amazing content. Also don't forget a young Palpatine show either!

I enjoyed the character development of this episode. I think the episode delivered wonderful character moments. Wim’s decision to trust the crabs is again his Lost Boys romantic desires at play. Even though his gut feeling was wrong, Wim got to very much succeed as he helped repair KB. Great stuff. Their escape while definitely crafted by the director and seems convenient. It’s there more to bolster Fern. The hull demolish option could be useful to a pirate. It could serve as a means to release the ship from tethered attachments which other pirates or authorities do use to ensnare their prey. The hull demolition comes with a disadvantage for that pirate crew when employed, it reduces storage space for their treasure which pirates value most. So 33 was relaying his Captain’s warning to not use the demolition option as it looses cargo but it’s there in the Captain’s pocket if needed. I don’t think the point was deus ex machina for the kids to escape but rather a vehicle to get Fern trusting her leadership hunches. It’s the courage to act which defines the true leader. This was also seen again as Neel going with Fern has her have to act, trusting her leadership. She had just yielded to Jod and felt like crap, lost confidence. Bryce Dallas Howard is about character moments and this episode delivered them in spades. Her decisions as director isn’t poorly made convenient instances. It’s crafted moments to show off character moments for the kids. Also the traps still remain even after you are removed from the treasure chamber. So when you are expelled from the treasure chamber by giant slide you’re basically at square one again. The trap door basically boots you out. Still very much in line with a pirate’s intention. Jod’s saber is removed from him and he has very much only shown us to do simple levitation using the Force. His mouth is a more formidable weapon for him, that and waiting for the opportune moment. I very much doubt he has much saber skills. Sorry you didn’t dig this episode. I think it’s the best yet. Jod had that pirate crew eating out of his hands at that trial. Jude Law was pretty charismatic. Brutus knows it and tries to reassert his authority. I think Brutus not Jod will see his fate at the airlock. Jod has survived a long time because he’s an opportunist and will deceive by convincing you that he is needed. This next episode should be pretty good as pirates and kids all finally head to At Attin.

Yeah, its almost as if he's afraid to pick a fight with adults and is only confident when going up against kids... lol

Definitely the weakest of the series so far but IMO it served its purpose. The kids were able to escape the planet and Jod ‘s now on his way to At Attin as a respected prisoner. Probably could’ve slowed down a bit in places and there plenty of conveniences but it did what it needed to do.

I’m sorry but this series just feels like a Disney cash grab to make up for the failure of the acolyte.

Yeah haven’t even bothered with the show nor the acolyte either

Don't know about that. It was actually made before Acolyte and Disney apparently had far less faith in it, instead thinking Acolyte was going to be their big hit. Skeleton Crew isn't anything amazing but for most part still better than Acolyte.
