Now this makes so much more sense when it comes to how they ended up in the vision with the world burning around them. I was thinking that it would require huge amount of power to accomplish that, and what you said just simply alligns.

OMG YES, thank you so much for doing a report on this!!!! My friend is the one that made this post and she went all out for it. Another note about "invading and taking over consciousness", the voices that MC heard when she first met him, it is his power working but not in the way of him directing what the voices say. The way his power works is to amplify the unconscious desires of his target to the point that the target's rationality stops working and eventually the person will do what their desires ask them to do even though they don't actually intend to act on those desires. And Stylus also gets to know through this ability what the other person's true desires and intentions are. The voices told MC to kill him because for MC she thought he murdered her family, and the other voices that told her to "devour" him, me and my friends suspect are from her Aether core.

It does also makes sense when it comes to the "devour" the voice does say that all that power is there for you to take. Which would mean he is very powerful and her Aether core was weak still. Needed power to become stronger, so it desired his power.

@@ailagatdula1382 i know which is a shame and i also think the fact that japanese and korean do share similarities in terms of folklore and cultural references also adds to why their translations are more accurate. I was referring to the suggestion to try the chinese dialogue with english text and I can’t make myself do it hahaha i’ll just read the google drive translation to get the whole picture… apologies for the long reply 😅

See this pisses me off so much. They do this with larger games like final fantasy and even anime. I don’t understand why every time something is changed for English speakers to be able to listen to, the translations are always miles away from the meaning and characterization of the original content.

This happens often in Genshin too. The translations have somehow been consistently nerfing Capitano to sound weaker.

A FEW RAFAYEL audio cards also missing important parts...😮im surprised by the faulty translations in their other game MLQC my friends say such mistakes are rare...With LADS even some chats and even some voice lines make no sence and you can tell the VAs are having trouble too guessing whats happening 😂

I’m not sure if this is considered spoiler territory. Since this is a theory. Spoiler: Based on what we read, I think we’re gonna have a story where the MC was sent to vanquish the beast(Sylus). She instead of defeating the beast. She shackle them or tamed them instead . And it could very well be for love. It could be out of malice or combination of both. During the fairytale that we ended up doing that. I didn’t get a chance to play through all the other LI but I did play Rafayel’s to the end. His story lines up with abyss walker card story. So Sylus taming the dragon should have some parallels to his story. His other cards have theme of taming animals too. So I think we might get an interesting twisted beauty and the beast type of story from the myth cards. I hope if any of this is true. Will get a cool dragon outfit out of all of this. If not something that gives Raven king energy.

Oh about the fate part, it makes sense now that when you play with Sylus in abyssal chaos, he asks you if you believe in fate and it’s mentioned a few times throughout the story

Thanks for your video and all people who noticed some changes in the translation. The interpretation process is quite intriguing. I myself study few languages and can say people will always discuss, agree pr disagree with same translation result. Yeah, maybe we have not perfect translation but for many players English is second language. So situation is quite complicated...but anyway I am grateful to developers for making English version (cause there are few good games that still are available only in Chinese 😢)and to these fans translators who brought these nuances ❤

3:28 now his red shirt makes sense with the chains all over it. 4:26-5:40 i think about his power in relation to No Defense Zone where he "takes over consciousness" by putting her into a dream state and then invades her dream. So my interpretation is that he knows exactly whom and what she dreamt about. An interesting comment under that thread that has now been deleted is that they're using ChatGPT for a lot of the translations, which is disheartening if true.

If you find the time to replay some of his story in another language let us know your thoughts! I play with JP voice, I speak a little bit, and EN text. I don't know if it's the delivery or facial expressions, but he strikes me as the complex ML right now. It's nice to know the translations are spot on for JP. The spreadsheet was still incredibly valuable because the MC is unvoiced and it explains the Chinese idioms.

This happens quite a lot with official translations for some reason. Instances I can think of right off the bat would be Final Fantasy Advent Children and the JJK mangas. Official translations were not nearly as sensical/good as just boot leg/fan translation

It's craaazy what kinda discrepancies can occur between versions. Though some discrepancies will be inherent, I think a good TLer would minimize or contextualize them. I play with CN voiceover/EN text and even though I don't understand any CN, I can still hear a difference in the tone/emotions between EN Sylus and CN Sylus. Plus, there are some glaring moments (not just with Sylus) when I hear a voiceline with little/no tl whatsoever. One that comes to mind is near the beginning of Rafayel's "Ebb and Flow" bond: he grabs MC's hand and says this whooole line, but the text just says "So?" Makes me wonder what other lines I heard but unknowingly didn't read. Σ(･ิ¬･ิ)

not wanting to defend infold and the devs but I think it's a general issue with Chinese gacha their english translations are so hit or miss. to be fair I feel like some players can get pretty picky as well, usually it gives the overall same idea , it's just when you translate any language to english you're going to lose so much in the process it's a very basic language hence why it's so easy to learn and use everywhere. still...they could definitely use some better translators for their games.

It kinda feels like I'm back to square one in terms of understanding Sylus. Cuz his abilities/personality seem so different now, and now I'm like suspicious of him all over again and it bums me out. Like, now my brain is going damn his whole "there is no love more pure than mine" and "my beloved" doesnt even feel..good anymore? cuz now im thinking none of it is real and its all just a cover up so he can get what he wants from MC- like a friends close and enemies closer kind of thing. whats the next mistranslation? is Zayne even a doctor!? lol

Although personally my only thing is, I actually assumed that his mind control powers worked more like how it's described on the reddit post due to when we see him use it that it appears more of a looking in and taking over then just blatent mind control. I kind of feel betrayed and heartbroken now. I feel like I've 'fallen in love' and spent money on a man, I don't really know because they f-ked up so badly with the translation. I don't know if this makes sense to anyone else but I really think that Infold should publicly comment and apologize.... So i did try to change the voice over of the game from eng to cn, i was thinking that maybe the eng subtitles will change to what is being said in cn. unfortunately, the subtitle for eng is the same even if you change the voice over language. just tested it out.

Sometimes translating chinese to english can be hard as it can sound weird and unnatural. In sylus new card, he says "its yours now," but in chinese, it's “拿去玩吧” which means "take it and go play with it" Im a native Chinese and a fluent English speaker

​@@kira_authorThat is part of the issue, yes, but I think the larger problem is how clunky English is as a whole. Idioms don't always translate well across languages, but in the case of densely packed languages it can be even worse. And then there's the lip synchronizing on top of that.

@DarkYashaRyoko I think the bigger issues are the missing information. Some of these important informations are lost throught translation. And I noticed that some of the idioms in chinese should have been easy to translate to English, but somehow, they managed to mess it up, making it sound weird

Which only solves half of the problem. Sure, we will hear slightly different tone of the voice, more accurate, but still have the less accurate english translation.
