I just realised something, at 3:06 Sylvain says "You're a spoiled brat who should pay for that crest, maybe I'll collect that debt" with a very dark face... That's the kind of phrase Sylvain never usually uses, maybe he repeats what Miklan used to tell him? Maybe that's what it's about, I always felt like this line was very off character even if he's joking, especially since he claims Byleth was spoiled because of it... How should he know? (I doubt Jeralt cared) He knows he was pampered for his own crest though. Anyway, dark Sylvain is dark.

I believe the spoiled part is in reference to the fact that she wasn't even aware of their crest. They didn't have to worry about people treating them differently. They were just treated based off merrit. He's upset because people pretend to love him because of his crest. In that same support conversation he basically explains the way he is. I'm not saying his brother didn't ever say that to him but it was definitely in different context then what we have in that conversation.

In a way I agree that he might’ve been mocking Miklan in a way bc I do agree that the threat came out of nowhere and was really out of character/out of the blue for what the conversation was about. But as someone said about he was being serious about what he was saying, which it probably made him envious that Byleth got to grow up without the pressure and doesn’t really care about having a crest. Yeah, all of female Byleth's possible dialogue choices imply that she has just as little patience for Sylvain's skirt chasing as pretty much everyone else. It's to the point that she has a visibly angry look when he tries to invite her over for some tea. Heck, many of her dialogue choices with Sylvain are snarkier than with other students. She might welcome Sylvain into whichever house that isn't the Blue Lions, but I have a feeling she's fully aware that he's only doing it because of her good looks and how close they are in age. Well, he is definitely smarter than he gives off. He does well in my lessons with him, and he's one of my strongest warriors in battle. But after I learned that Sylvain doesn't like the system that values Crests over everything, how he feels women only like him because of his Crest, and his paralogue alongside the mission that leads to Miklan's death, I started to gain more sympathy for him. I feel like I have a soft spot for Sylvain now. I was gonna choose Ashe since I'm currently on Crimson Flower, but recently, I feel like I might change my mind.

I just love this so much. I love it so much I'm about to go on a huge rant... So a couple of years ago, I played 3 Houses for the first time. I have never played a Fire Emblem game before this so I was really unsure about how the game worked. My first playthrough was with the Golden Deer class and I was determined to simply learn how the game works. I was a serious noob during that time, haha. Anyway, I did not understand the recruiting system very well or anything. I played as girl Byleth with an immediate determination to make my girl end up with Claude because he's so super dreamy. When I play games, I get really into the roleplaying mode, so I was very...emotionally involved and invested. I had only successfully recruited one other person at that time, when I randomly decided to ask Sylvain to join my class. At this time I did not know anything about him, just that I loved his design and he really reminded me of this really cute, flirty guy from when I was in high school who I felt was very unapproachable for a nobody like me. Anyway, he agreed to join my class and I was so happy but also surprised when it worked out. And it just so happened to be around the time when the dance contest was happening and I needed to pick someone for the dancer class. While in my roleplaying mind, I created a headcanon that Byleth already has her affections growing for Claude during that storyline, and I was really feeling it. But man oh man. I was pretty darn swayed by Sylvain's charm. It's sounds really silly but I just loved playing a game where such a hot guy can hit on my girl. Especially cause Claude is very...economical with his emotions, haha. He has kind of a buddy-buddy vibe, but Sylvain was just so sexy. So I made him into the dancer and I just loved the experience of it so much. Anyway, I played through the whole storyline and got with Claude like I planned. But, I was so impressed with the way Sylvain was written. Especially after the stuff with his brother and then after doing his special mission. His interactions with Byleth feel so charged with chemistry and sexuality. So I created this headcanon for myself in the end, and I've really wanted to write a fanfic about it so badly but I've been too lazy. The fanfic has small segments that fairly well summarize the happenings during the GD storyline, with the addition of Sylvain. I was thinking that while Claude and Byleth are creating this bond, she also has this new suitor who is charming and irresistible. I was thinking in the fic, without her knowing, Claude is of course taking note of this guy honing in on his companion and feels threatened but eventually kind of forgets about him. So original storyline comes to an end in the fic and Claude and Byleth have exchanged their engagement rings and then he goes away. This is the headcanon: during Claude's time away, and I know this is horrible...I put together in my mind that during that time, Byleth is so lonely that she and Sylvain have an affair in the monastery. And they have this passionate season of love, but in the end Claude returns and she goes back to him. In my mind, Sylvain was like her backup stud. Her side piece. Anyway... I really want to write that fanfic now... >///
