What a great way to kick off a dismal, wet, Monday morning! Another "Mama's Basecamp" masterpiece. So good to see Ams again. Thanks for sharing your trip.

Great to hear from you, thanks for watching. Sometimes Ams does not want to be in videos. I just roll with what comes my way. But I am glad when she does because these are the memories that will make me smile when she's grown and off living her life.

Our son never wanted his photo taken... always hid, at least his face, whenever the camera came out. Still doing that to a certain extent now at age 37! So frustrating that we have so few memories of him to look back on. At least Ams isn't that extreme. Best not to force it in any case, just makes things much worse. Be thankful you can capture the glimpses that you can. Yes, you will have wonderful memories to make you smile after she's flown the nest.

Both lakes looked great and what a great place to camp, canoe and hike. Looked a great set-up you had going on there and great homemade pizza. Cheers Alan

Alan Metalman, thanks for watching! We've camped on both of these lakes and both are wonderful places. Crooked Lake had trumpeter swans all over one of the big wide open sections on the way in trumpeting, but I didn't share the video because the area was very windy (which ruined the trumpeting sounds) and wavy (which made a very shaky video). But the point is we camped near swans on Crooked last year and it was marvelous listening and watching.

A nice family camp. The pizza looked interesting. Looking forward to day 2

I have been trying different ways to cook the pizza and get melted cheese and warm but not burnt crust. This was a new method try. I like it from the reflector oven the best, but with the wet wood from the morning rain the fire was smoky and not quite ready when the appetites were.

I probably would like it best in the reflector oven as well but I would fave been into that one with no hesitation. 😁

Your Marmot looks super comfortable for 3 people and AMS looks much taller. Fun trip!

Little bit of chess in the wilderness, awesome! My 11 year old daughter and I play as well. Cool she beat dad!

Thanks for watching. Yes, the luck tends to turn in her favor when Dad turns his back to fix the fire.

Michigan is probably going to be one of the next summer destinations I go to. Not sure if it will be this summer though since it's already going pretty quick and I have a bunch of editing and camping already planned for this summer! We also want to do something like this (we have pretty concrete plans to do a canoe/camping trip this summer). Your tent looks pretty straightforward to set up which is always nice. Smart idea for the pizza - looks like it turned out great!

Josh the Travel Guy thanks for watching, the best canoeing is in the BWCA but we do have alot of fun in Michigan as well. Enjoying your channel, you do take some awesome trips!

I appreciate your compliment. I have, indeed, been very lucky to explore some really cool places! It's one of those things, where the more you do it the more you crave it. Still trying to find a way to do it more often though. It really is my life's passion!

Awesome videos. I'm planning a 3 day trip up to Sylvania in September. How do you bring food, keep it cold and fresh, and safe from the bears? Do you bring a cooler?
@MamasBasecamp3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I do not bring coolers on wilderness trips. For short backpacking trips we use an Ursack and for most canoe trips we use a blue barrel. Mostly I bring nonperishables and I do make dehydrated meals.
