It's easy for ANY straight woman (at least the ones with a heartbeat, lol) to find a 'summer fling'. Most women only find 4.5% of men to be sexually appealing. It is those 4.5% of men, who are literally running through/smashing and dashing/pumping and dumping at least 35-40% of women out there. Those men are called 'Chads'!

I've never listened to song because it's of a particular genre but because I like it. I was born in 1955 when we didn't have the copious choices of TV, radio, etc. like we do now. From what I understood, Sylvester was not in costume, those were his real clothes.
@danielsims20762 жыл бұрын
@@asturiasceltic3183A costume, theatrically speaking, is any garment worn specifically for a production, a performance. For example, if a female singer wears a gown to perform a song on stage, that gown becomes a costume, because the gown is now a contributing factor in judging her performance. Sylvester may have worn certain outfits in everyday life. However, once he stepped on stage that outfit is then labelled a costume. I am not speaking of Halloween costumes or masks. Sorry Angela it's a much accepted urban myth that gay people hid in the shadows and were looked down on during the 1970s/80s but I can tell you being an old bloke in my 70s that there were many disco clubs frequented by gay people and there were also many gay dating organisations . My girlfriend and I spent many nights boogying on the dance floor with gay friends. And I might add dancing to black music.
@angela135899 Жыл бұрын
@@garypautard1069 I disagree with your "myth" notion. In the 70's n 80's gay people hid there identity albeit the music was out there but not accepted by most. Remember, the last Pride Parade before his death was taken by AIDS related complications, Sylvester, who at the time was a shell of himself due to his illness, was courageous enough to attend. When the attendants saw Sylvester, they were in shock. This act, at the time, really put a “celebrity’s” face on the disease that had already taken countless numbers of lives. Arguably, this act pushed not only HIV awareness forward, but rights for the LGBTQIA + community also. This was a selfless act by Sylvester, showing himself in his most vulnerable position, to bring more awareness to both causes. RIP Sylvester.

Didn't know this thanks for sharing. I've seen pictures of people with AIDS in the 80s and they are devastating. It's just sad nothing like this was available 40 years ago.

@unfluster8 ай бұрын
@@JustinLHopkins - It wasn't entirely Hedonism. America was also having a cultural renaissance. The cost of living was low. The quality of life was high. If you want to talk about the cost of Hedonism you might want to consider the current opioid crisis which has killed more than half a million.
@JustinLHopkins8 ай бұрын
@@unfluster Opioid addiction is not hedonism. It’s a health crisis. Studio 54 is the definition of modern hedonism. Drugs everywhere, people fucking all over the place, and even deaths occurred. The club was literally stuffed to the ceiling in drugs and anonymous sex was rampant. I have no issue with this and if I had a time machine, I’d make 54 one of my stops. I don’t think anyone can seriously argue that this period in time was not hedonistic. Again, hedonism always carries a cost. Burning the candle at both ends never leads to anything good. I will say that the creativity flowing in NYC during the 70’s/80’s was unparalleled and we lost so many talented and creative people. We can never get that back and New York will never be the same. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. You can only party for so long before something inevitably explodes.

In the 70s people didn't care who was gay or not, it was nothing to see straight people (guys and girls) in the gay clubs (Proof - watch Natalie Coles video for the song "Party Lights" and you'll see clips from Studio 54). People were free to be themselves no matter who they were. What happened to that era? When did things change? What caused the change? As Marvin Gaye would say "What's Going On?"
@SluttChops3 жыл бұрын
@@newyoupersonaldevelopment3497 Actually, her grandparents were very typical of teens in the 1970s. Especially if she is an American. Only 30% of Americans in 1976 believed homosexual relations between consenting adults should be legal. Less than 10% of Americans thought being gay was something someone was born as. Hell, I grew up in the 1980s and for the vast majority of teens then, being gay was the ultimate taboo. Homophobia was absolutely rife in society. We may have come a long way, but let's not sugarcoat the past and look back with rose-tinted glasses.

In my opinion, the greatest Disco song ever recorded. If it was playing in a packed disco at 1:30 AM on a Saturday night and I was on the dance floor I wouldn't want it to end.
