Just saw Street Scene! What a great movie and what a great actress! As a romantic leading lady, she always knocks me out.

She was a wonderful actress. My favorite movie is Madame Butterfly (1932) and Sylvia Sidney acted as Cho-Cho-San. Sylvia Sydney was 22 years old when she acted as Madame Butterfly in 1932. Rest in peace Madame Butterfly! Rest in peace Sylvia Sidney!

I think that she was very beautiful, a cross between Gene Tierney and Bette Davis. One comment can really ruin someone for life!

I wonder, if you could have shown the 1936 Sylvia Sidney this video of when she was 88, what would she have thought.

I love SS but what a royal PITA she was in the interview. The interviewer deserved 3 medals for the effort.

Watched this again. What was with the set-up. She obviously had hearing problems here so why are they seated so far apart? And why was the monitor set up so she couldn't see the clips?!

I love her as an actress, she was so beautiful, but really why so rude? Gals were a lot tougher in her day.

I saw a movie with her this morning from 1935. A beautiful speaking voice. Listening to her now, all I can think about is DAMN CIGARETTES! So wasteful a habit.

I admire Ms. Sydney as an actress, always have. But she's turned into a nasty, rude person. And why? It's almost as though she's using age to be rude and get back at earlier slights, etc. I couldn't listen to her to the end.

This interviewer clearly had "no balls," he was complete "putty" in Sylvia Sidney's hands, he allowed her to control the entire interview, a fatal mistake most interviewers do, especially those who are in "awe" of their subjects.

She's a bit much. Nervous? Unused to such a format, or acknowledgement or acclaim? Might she have been a bit tipsy? Or just an unpleasant woman, whose fame was long gone and was never acknowledged appropriately or sufficiently enough in her prime.

+daniel stanwyck She was 88 and old people (even non-actors and non-celebrities) are getting easier annoyed if things do not go their usual (or exspected) way. The Club was proably not around the corner of her home and she was not iunterviewed every week or month anymore. She proably had hearing problems, too. So do not compare her to somebody who is even 75 and healthy. Yes I agree with you she could have been nicer to an interviewer who was interested in her work of art.

She was a spitfire, it was her personality. Liked to shock people, that's probably what kept her alive for so long. Got her through her various health struggles.
