suprisingly decent for a syma x5c

Thanks! yeah it's been 2 years since I've bought this and still flies great. Considering it already crashed multiple times, submerged in water, and been modified a lot of times (changed 1 burnt motor, replaced X5HC props, FPV camera, etc.) - it's technically bulletproof hehe.

Yeah I have a x5c and lemme just say that after 5 years of crashing, modding, and flying that thing, it’s still running strong

nicely done!. even better than some of the clips of more expensive quadcopter.

Thanks! Indeed, and until now, this quad is still kickin' after almost 2 years :)

This is an awesome video, love the music and you got great shoots. I visited what was called, China Beach in 1971. I served in Vietnam in 1970/1971. For the most part I loved the people, the beauty of the country, its just too bad given the circumstances of war. I have had buddies go back to Vietnam and visited some places we use to serve near, including Duc Pho and Mo Duc. I bought a 8mm movie camera in those days and took videos of a combat mission. Thanks Burn for posting this, I just bought my first quad and hope one day I can fly half as good as you do. Wolfie

+Ken Simpson wow I can just imagine what I can capture in this beautiful city using hobby grade quads like yours. I've just started flying few months ago so I've picked up this wonderful x5c1 for a start.

Dude, you have got to be the smoothest operator I have ever seen, I want to take lessons from you! Is this the stock camera with no mods?
@BurnM198 жыл бұрын
thanks man. just fly in the morning there's less wind plus when capturing shots like this you better minimize your control with the pitch and aileron at least 5-10 seconds and you'll have footages easier to edit and stitch on video editor. hope it helps.

oh and yes it's the stock x5c1 camera with wide-angle clip-on lens for smartphones

doing such a video with a "china" drone and minimal editing software makes this that much more impressive.. I'm expecting to take delivery of the v3 version of same quad tomorrow so I've watched literally dozens of videos. yours was the most cinematic and impressive. do any of u know if my v3 would perform as well with this guy at the controls? should i mod the Tx while i charge my first battery??? if video poster answers this i would feel honored but i dont expect it as he's probably big time drone operator by now
@BurnM196 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm sure you can since the newer versions now already have altitude hold and more advanced features compared to this beast more than 2 years ago :D (I still keep it though). Be careful when modding Tx it will just tempt you to fly farther and believe me it's hard to control when it's far without a GPS. Also, you should fly in the morning which normally have less wind and you'll catch the "golden hour" with natural light from sunrise. Hope it helps.

I am not convinced that this is the stock camera. Mainly because the quality of the image is amazing. Also, I've never seen such a stable flier. That is why I don't believe that it is a Syma X5C. Finally, the transmitter that the pilot is using in this video is clearly not the stock transmitter as you can see at various points throughout the video.
@BurnM198 жыл бұрын
for the record, the first clip was taken using a smartphone with timelapse. The rest was taken with X5C1 using the stock camera, with wide-angle lens enhancement (that explains the flares). It was taken early in the morning, when there's minimal wind which made the footage more stable. Moreover, the transmitter used was from an X11c quad, which is smaller and easier to carry (which also happened the Tx I've applied a range mod using a wifi antenna). Hope it cleared up your confusions hehe. Happy Flying!

thanks. I'll be uploading new videos soon as I've purchased X5HC props which they said will make the flight more stable. also I got a Hubsan H502E on the way (gps capable). can't wait to make more cinematic videos ;)

+GTDrone thanks, I'm looking forward to acquire at least a Tarantula X6 or a CX20, something that can carry my xiaomi yi action cam. I think it's time to level up ;)
@gtdrone219 жыл бұрын
+Burn M , mmm to be honest with you i recommend you a syma x8, because it is a smooth flier , also i have a syma x8w and it flies amazing with the Runcam you can see my videos , the tarantula is a fast quad and because it weights less you can carrie more weight but it moves and shake a lot , its a really great quad to fly fast and play but i don't recommend it to take videos , well is just my point i hope it help you , and also if you have the money to buy a cx820 i thing that is better that you spend your money in a flier x8, because i heard really bad comments about the cx20
@BurnM199 жыл бұрын
+GTDrone thanks for the suggestions. I don't know but personally I find the bulkiness of X8 series too much. I'm planning to attach a Walkera G-2D gimbal on the Tarantula . Does an X8 can carry a lightweight gimbal too? I might consider if it can.
@gtdrone219 жыл бұрын
+Burn M , if you remove the prop guards and you adjust the weight of the gimbal yes , but i dont recommend it its to much weight for the syma X8 , and as i saw in some videos the Tarantula is able to lift a 2d gimbal but is not recommended because it reduce the fly time and you can damage the motors during the fly and then you crash and lose everything , what i recommend you is to get a 3d X8 with GPS, telemetry and brush less motors with a 3 d or 2d gimbal www.amazon.com/Flying-Flying3D-Axis-Quadcopter-Version/dp/B00Y0V08RK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1445277207&sr=8-2&keywords=3d+x8

Hey I really want to get in to shooting drone footage, i really want the phantom 4, but I'm never flown a drone before and I don't want to crash a small fortune. Would you say this drone would be suitable for a total novice?
@BurnM198 жыл бұрын
if it's still 2015 then I would absolutely recommend this one. But this drone already have a new version with altitude hold and better props (check syma x5hc). if you can spare few more bucks I would recommend Hubsan H502E/H502S which have failsafe features like gps hold and true return to home

is the drone modded? Maybe my syma x5c just has bad range, because I know my syma can't go that far
@BurnM197 жыл бұрын
yes the Tx was modded, I've added a router antenna, plus the location was in the mountains so it really look that high. As far as I know the maximum altitude I've flown this X5C on this video is just 60 meters high.

I've used its younger brother's Tx from Syma X11C since it can both control X5C1 and X11C. Plus it's a smaller TX than the default from X5C1 so it's easier to carry.
