Yurts have very spiritual elements, found in many of the components of the yurt structure both inside and out. That’s why Mongolian yurts are not manufactured on an assembly line. Instead you’ll find that the Mongolian people create yurt components using meticulous processes. Here, we cover some of these processes and elements!

Very good reply. I have been doing a lot of research on this. I think the humidity problem can be a easier fix than not. The Roman culture dealt with this by venting their heat under the floor;they had stone the size of chicken grit;an inch to two thick;with 1foot Hight of air, between the wood floor and the ground!this was how they dealt with it in England; which is more moist than here. English castles were built this way but they didn’t vent their heat under the floor making their castles very damp. When I get the yurt I will put earth bags around the base and later make a Sanna like room; sort of like the Russians do in the winter time heating up stone sweating in it and then jumping into the ice water. Heating up stone and placing them under the yurt with a layer of sand and chicken grit during the winter will not only keep it warmer but also dry it out without dry rotting it. It would not take more than three heated stones once a week two equal the dryness of Mongolia! Also modern culture use humidifiers I will not,but if you use a dehumidifier once a week that would be the same as the stones. I’m a history buff and I love the history and the culture that you explain more of this would be appealing to New Yurt buyers; unique cultures have a mystique about them;that truly inspire;likewise your personality is outgoing and vibrant;this added to the fact that your product is actually helping someone;as well as giving you a Business way cool dude. There is a native culture in One of the Scandinavian countries that are similar to American Indians and Mongolians might be an interesting add to your yurt business as well the have a similar tent to the yurt.

Again thanks a lot for the comments Robert!! Yes, it is fascinating how the different cultures "had it all". We can learn so much from the past. Yes the Same in Scandinavia use the Lavuu, which is similar to many Siberian tents (or these of the Tsataan in Mongolia). Maybe could we add this in the future, but for now we're busy enough trying to improve our servcie around the Mongolian ger :-). I've tried a few other yurts (Kazakah and Kirghiz), but so far the Mongolian is teh one that has the most qualities for our climates. Mongolians are also the only ones using their yurts at large year round and in one the harshest Central Asian climate. It is therefore in constant evolution. I have the most respect in tryingto make changes... as it is almost pretentious after over 3000 years of fine tuning. But we still do and learn from our errors :-). Sometimes it works as this simple rim that was added on the toono (dome) about 15 years ago and that helps with watre resistance. It has now been adopted at large.

Great video;9 is a sacred number in many cultures and religions. Nine is the number of the name of God in judaism;there are nine knots on all four corners of a prayer shawls;likewise 9 was a special number in ancient China and in their mythology;the jade emperors favored daughter lived in the ninth heaven;and her name was the unspeakable nine which is different from the nine used in math. You should do a video of your customers or year later like a short five minute of each one;it would be interesting to see their difficulties and how they dealt with them;not just how much they love the yurt;because we already know that they love them or they would not do a video about it. I seen one video about one of your customers;her problem and her songs and her life;just makes me want one more than before;I was thinking about it but now I I do want one. I really like the way you are down to earth about;problems and your willing ness to say that there are flaws;no one ever does this about their products; it shows sincerity. I likewise love The whole concept of your business and how it started;and I really love that y’all are planning for the future by planting trees! I pray for your Business!

Thank you so much Robert for your comment!!! Really like to read about the 9 and learned something here. And thank you for the kind words - it means a lot to us. You are absolutely right about getting feedbacks from existing customers after a few years. We're lacking resources here at the moment- but this is something that would help better understand the nature of these dwellings. I'm hoping we can produce a new serie of videos this Summer. Here's a link to one - which is probably the one you watched: bit.ly/2RdtYPR and that has the advantage of not having been produced by us! With the increased interest for yurts in general, the biggest problem we are facing is the expectations people have. I spent the first years of my yurt carreer trying to convince people that yurts were closer to a house than a tent. We have now to do the opposite : a yurt is a sturdy tent! :-) It is important to show the limits and make sure people know what they are entering into. A cotton based canvas that is exposed constantly to the sun, rain, ice... will age and need to be replaced eventually - often before 10 years in our humid regions. One of the biggest issue is humidity in cold winter climates... It has to be taken care of, by correct heating and ventilation or condensation can build up. Even a house takes maintenance and renovations over 25 years. We know now that there's always a solution... but it takes certainley some work and attention to remain yurt happy.
