Symbols of the Two Lands: the Uraeus

The Uraeus is one of the most enduring symbols of ancient Egypt, certainly as old and prevalent as the Ankh. It symbolised royalty, but how it became a symbol of the sovereignty of the kings of Egypt is a story with telling.
Or at least it had better be, because that's what this video is.

Can't help but make the connection with one of Jesus' most famous parables. "As for you...be as wise as serpents and innocent as a dove". Only in this case it is a vulture and not a dove but still works. Vultures don't really kill....they are scavengers so they kind of are innocent like a dove since most vultures feed on already dead animals. So it's like a form of duality in my eyes at least. Also Ureaus/Oureaus reminds me of the ouroboros and makes me wonder if they are linked at least in an etymological sense.

As to the linguistic connection it might be a coincidence! Ouroboros comes from ouros for “tail” for Uraeus comes from one of a number of Egyptian words, probably wrr.t, for the crown. But, ultimately, who can say for sure?
