the difference between a symmetry element and operation is not specified. At the end you said there are symmetry element operations for this BF3 molecule. are both elements and operations same?

Informative video. But in the video of Ammonia you did not mention about C2 axis while there is 3c2 like this one. I hope you will review that and correct . Thank you.
@noorshidamohdali Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes in my ammonia video I didn't mention 3C2 because ammonia is trigonal pyramidal shape. It's not planar so impossible to rotate 180 degree at N-H bond. So no 3C2 symmetry elements for ammonia. Thank you
@azsk4974 Жыл бұрын
@@noorshidamohdali thank you ma'am for clearing the confusion. if you could do something of PtCl4(symmetry) that would be great.

Are Bcl3 has same symmetry elements as in Bf3???
@noorshidamohdali2 жыл бұрын
@@miniaturerealcooking9103 yes same coz it has same geometry shape trigonal, planar with same terminal atoms

How come C1?
@noorshidamohdali Жыл бұрын
C1 can be at central atom or passing through the B-F bond. Infact C1= E =C3 +3 (rotate clockwise 3x120 degree) = C3-3(rotate anticlockwise 3x120 degree)

@nethranraj29913 жыл бұрын
why no C2 axis in NH3
@noorshidamohdali3 жыл бұрын
NH3 is not planar molecule. So we cannot rotate 180 degree through the N-H bond
@sindhucrsindhucr98813 жыл бұрын
Mam can you say improper axis of rotation please mam

Does BF3 not have sigma D?
@noorshidamohdali8 ай бұрын
BF3 doesn't have sigma d. There are 3 sigma v because the planes parallel to main axis C3 and also the planes do not bisect the angle between between two C2 axes
