I’m a professional musician and about the same vintage as you and have loved this song since it was released. But, I never really got the full gist of it until now. I hope Mick and Keith have heard this. They would be humbled by your interpretation and delivery. Bravo! I’m reminded, a little, of Leonard Cohen. I hope there’s more on your channel. What a great discovery!

Bob Dylan Meets Leonard Cohen Meets The Rolling Stones. This is a superb reinterpretation.

This is probably the best version I've ever heard of that song! This guy managed to smooth out a harsh song and enhance the poetry in a way that Leonard Cohen would give a standing ovation. In addition, he sang very well with his beautiful voice, as good as a good aged wine.

Hey Frank! Thanks for the love....but keep in mind that it's more than just a compliment. I play and have organized flashy stage shows with some excellent musicians...in your case, your delivery of the lyrics is not only impeccable, but it brings something dark to the song that takes it to a moody place where it vibrates like never before!! Add a dark backdrop and clothing, and it becomes epic Grammyworthy...keep at it dude, and have a look at minor tone material by the Cure. Maybe Lullabye or Love Song...They really would suit your style!! Congrats!!

An incredible rendition! Mr Watkinson's interpretation brings out a feeling of fear and evil in ways that I don't think I ever really got from the Rolling Stones' version. And wow, it really delivers. It's the devil gently silver-tonguing us -- and also subtly threatening us -- to buy into his agenda. In today's environment, it gives me the shivers. Epic performance. Thanks for posting this.
