Greenaway's films aren't exactly known for their emotion, but for whatever reason, this one hit me right in the feels.

So wish Brian Dennehy had got more leading roles like this. He had such presence on screen, compelling. So sadly he will be missed.

Yes, so do I! He was quite underrated and used mainly as a character actor. I am grateful Peter Greenway gave him this part. Brian was amazing, and showed so many different layers. I am gutted he is gone. :(

I’ve been on a Brian Dennehy kick and it really is weird he didn’t have more leading roles he was wonderful.

I first saw The Belly of Architect when I was in grad school 16 years ago and it very quickly became one of my favorite films. This scene, in particular, always resonated with me and it was what I immediately thought of when I heard of Mr. Dennehy's passing.

I saw Brian Dennehy perform live as the father in Arthur Miller's 'Death of a Salesman' in London He was fabulous and that is a really challenging role I do not think he had the recognition as a great actor that he deserved. I have always loved this movie, everything about it is a feast for the ears, eyes and mind and again it has never had the acclaim it deserves

Parmi tous les films que j'ai pu voir c'est celui dont je garde le meilleur souvenir. Un chef d'oeuvre. Bravo maestro Greenaway👏!

Whoever the Titus mentioned is, it's not Vespasian's son.

Titus didn't die 'disemboweled on the Tiber steps'. The last 'unknown' bust looks a bit like other well-known Vespasian portraits.

@@FabioRossettiFI Yes, it seems some basic historical research was too much trouble for the filmmakers.

@@HandleGF @Fabio Rossetti Thank you for the information. However, this is a film, not a history lesson. For artistic purposes, the true identity and biography of the men portrayed in the busts are of little significance.

The doctor's description adjusts more to Domitian, who became very unpopular due to his tax policy among other nasty issues. He was murdered in his private chambers, but certainly not disemboweled on the Tiber steps. Still a masterpiece of a movie and outstanding acting work by the missed Brian Dennehy.
