I went through the Pulitzer prize winning orchestral compositions of the last 20 years and discovered how un melodic they all were. Cool orchestrations and lots of dissonance but nothing close to recognizable melodies. Classical music abdicated melody to Hollywood in the 1940's and seemed to want to drop it from it's possibilities. So in composing music with melodies and recognizable themes it makes sense to have the sensibility of being written for a movie.

awesome piece. i wonder how it would shine with a real orchestra. I think the timpani playback would sound a lot better in musescore

Thanx for the feedback. I actually like the timp sound that Sibelius has. In some places it could have been louder but I wrote the dynamics for performance. When the orchestra plays it in March I can get the balance better.
