This album was recorded when Ozzy was under contract with Jet Records a subsidiary of CBS records that was owned by Sharon's father Don Arden. They cut a deal with Ozzy to record a full Sabbath album so he could get out of that contract and sign to Epic records. For a group to only have minimal amount of rehearsal time to learn the songs and record them over two nights at The Ritz in the fall of 1982.The majority of the performances were taken from the second night. They killed these songs and rocked hard and I feel it's an excellent album and a better representative of those classic Sabbath songs than Sabbath could have ever pulled off in my humble opinion.God bless Ozzy ...A true rock and roll surviver of epic proportions.🙌🤘

Is it only me, or do these classic Sabbath tunes (iron man, war pigs, Fairies wear boots, sweet leaf, paranoid, black sabbath) sound WAY BETTER on this live album than they ever did on the original Sabbath albums? I know those sabbath albums were like 10 years older than this 1980s release. but I had a friend who was a huge Sabbath fan who heard Speak of the Devil for the first time back in the early 1980s and his jaw was on the floor when he heard these old tunes played like this. Am i crazy? Is it blasphemy? To me if I could only hear one version of these Sabbath songs it wouldnt be off a Sabbath album, but this post Randy Rhoads death album Ozzt had to make to fulfill a record deal. Gillis? Amazing.

(Don Arden insisted) An old interview Ronnie stated he always loved those songs he covered them in ELF while opening for Deep Purple. He just wanted the fans to hear Ozzy sing them... and then you got speak ot the devil. The dio tunes on live evil were awesome the ozzy tunes were out of place for sure. Speak was the better live album because it had a fresh take on stale classics. If you omit the ozzy songs from live evil it is actually a keeper.

Gillis did an amazing job considering he had to perform in the place where Randy once stood. Great album, plus... I always wondered... is that cranberry sauce Ozzy is spitting out? I never liked that stuff either. ✌❤🤘

I just saw an interview with Max Norman and he said that Ozzy complained about Rudy Sarzo‘s playing because of how bad it was. Max said they turned the track down like Metallica did. It seems to me for what I can hear Rudy sounded good. But I will believe the pros when they say it. Ironically Ozzy had to go in the studio and re-record all the vocals. Not one to speak. Unless it’s his band. Lol

One of the many records ill never forget for so many reasons, not least, hocking my entire collection at 21. I haven't heard it since, that was 1992. Funny, for some reason i thought Tommy Bolin puled stings on this release, not sure why.

Por incrível que pareça, as melhores versões dos clássicos do Black Sabbath estão nesse disco e são tocadas pelo Brad Gillis, e não pelo criador dos riffs: Tony Iommi
