In this video I talk about insomnia as a result of psych med damage and how I personally navigated it.

IMO sleep is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest keys to healing and recovery. I used to carry around a grocery bag of supplements to sleep i spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on different supps. The benzo and antidepressant withdrawal insomnia is like being in a pressure cooker with a ticking time bomb attached to it because as each night goes by with little to no sleep the less sane you become and the more desperate you become leading you to make mistakes out of desperation. I would stay awake for 5 days then sleep for 1 or 2 hours except the most cruel thing about it is I would wake up thinking I finally slept but when I checked the time only an hour or 2 went by but it felt like i had slept the entire night its like 8 hours compressed into 2 hours. It took me about 1 and half years to get 4 hours of sleep. Im about 3 years out now and I can sleep 6 to 9 hours no supplements .Thank God What helped me a lot was daily prayer doing extended water fasts eating carnivore diet no processed foods or sugars lots of good clean water. If I needed anything to help fall asleep its warm milk with honey and or chamomille tea. Its better not to use supplements because a lot of supplements mess with your neurotransmitters and mixing them together confuses your nervous system even more because they are synthesized by the same metabolite in your liver. Your brain and nervous system is desperately confused during withdrawal and needs to get back into homeostasis and that takes time and takes what I would describe as a non toxic , supportive healthy environment. For me i kept making the same mistakes going from doctor to doctor because i didn't know better all they were doing were trying to kill me with more pills or basicaslly not believe me. You cannot heal in the same environment which made you sick so if you get sick from pills a doctor gave you then you cant heal from more pills another doctor is going to give you. When it came down to the final straw it was just me and God and that's it. God basically in the simplest terms cocooned me guided me and protected and over time i started healing. God led me to heal but not in the way I wanted but in the way God wanted by basically showing me EVERYTHING wrong about me.

@@klanderkal i see you i hear you i believe you and you maybe thinking that you are alone but you are not alone. I know you're frantically searching for an answer as was I. That's going to lead you to mistakes because you make choices out of desperation. A lot of this is the neurons in the brain all confused and your mind is telling you lies that you wont get your sleep back adding more stress and making insomnia worst. Right now your enemy is fear and you need to practice getting as close as you can to relaxing the body and mind into an alpha state. Realize you will heal and you will get your sleep back. Keep speaking it out loud into existence this is easier said than done but must be done to get your subconscious mind working for you properly directing you towards a healing path. If you have a spiritual life practice it and if not find it. Radical acceptance is a key realizing this healing isn't going to happen over night but will haopen over time. Be kind and gentle with yourself and stay away from all things toxic including toxic people. Realize most people aren't going to understand this but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people not going through it and have gone through it. Remember you will heal in time put away the doubt and fear and replace it with faith and self care and self love. Whatever you lost you will get back your health is what matters the most. Health is wealth.

@@klanderkal you're being coccooned it's part of the healing like putting a cast on a broken leg you can't go out dancing on a broken leg it just wont heal properly. Patience that's why they are called patients they gotta be patient.. yea I know what a completely avoidable thing to happen i mean how could this happen right? I mean i thought doctors were supposed to be snart and always right ? Right? Apparently not.. it's one of those catch 22s . Dont think about what you lost just know you'll get it back. Who you are is still there.. just like when you have a flu or something that's not you that's the flu and when it passes you are still there it just takes way longer and is way rougher.

@@klanderkal first it's not your fault whatsoever how could you bear any responsibility at all for what these drugs caused so just forget about guilt. It's not about guilt shame or blame it's about finding a solution . Whatever keeps you going in the mean time something you can do to help yourself out in this situaton. For me I basically had no one i spents years just by myself because everyone messed me up even more. I too lost so much everything family friends job money etc. It was like watching your life pass you by while you just can't keep up. Some people can work some people can't for me there was no way i could work. I could barely form a complete thought or sentence at one point.

@@klanderkal there isn't a human out there that doesn't make mistakes. Blaming yourself isn't the solution it's more like pouring gasoline on a fire. I think you need to find out about who the enemy is. Study yourself approved. You're caught up in a cycle and you need to break out of that cycle. Yes the devil is real and yes the devil is manipulating you with lies so you're beating yourself up. That's the cycle we all have to battle the enemy it's spiritual warfare. Everyday I go through the same battles and if I don't rebuke the evil spirits they bind on to me and lead me to traps but no weapon formed against me shall prosper. What you speak out into existence becomes reality through manifestation. Proverbs 18:21 KJV: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Basically if you keep repeating negative things they keep manifesting into reality. So you need to break that cycle right now. I understand you're venting and that does release some pain but it doesn't change it enough. You need to go and cry out to God to heal you and thank God in advance for healing and restoring you vent out your frustrations to God and just keep praising out loud. Forget about the past it's just a thought loop in your head of past mistakes that keep you stuck. Break the loop and claim victory right now. Get your spirit right with the most high. You will need to focus on God and not your problems. Focusing on the problems magnifies them energy flows where attention goes. Focus on God go and ask out loud what you need to get you back on the right track and God will hear you. It may not be what you want but you you need to surrender. You're going to heal it's just a matter of time and you need to be patient with yourself and kind to yourself.

I was in it for 3 years for chronic anxiety by my Dr. I have been off for 17 months and my sleep has never returned. I know its from the klonopin but Dr wont admit it. Always slept well before. Now the only thing that helps is Lune 3mg. But not all the time. I feel my sleep will never returned. Im 54 and exhausted. May God Bless You

Hey Matt! I recently found your channel and have been really impacted by your story. It's been truly unsettling to hear about the pain/suffering you and others go through as a result of SSRI/benzo withdrawal. I was totally ignorant to this issue prior to watching your videos. I haven't personally dealt with the same situation, but have experienced similar (albeit much less severe) symptoms like agitation, RLS, difficulty sleeping, depression/fear at night, etc. This is just a shot in the dark, but I recently came across some videos on KZbin that use sound frequencies to calm the brain/body. It sounds kind of trivial, but I was honestly SHOCKED at how effective these sounds are for alleviating my own symptoms. I immediately thought of you and other SSRI/benzo withdrawal sufferers and wondered whether they would be at all effective for your symptoms. If you're interested, I'll put a few links to the videos I've found to be the most helpful below. There is a ton of content like this on the KZbin channel "Meditative Mind" as well. Best of luck in your healing journey, I'm praying for you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/naDci5WrqcR-fLs kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3LFhpiQm7-Bhas kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqnOqnl5mrx0rtU

I'm currently knee-deep in the shit, but I am still using the tools of the system (IE drugs). My goal is going to be to get off as many as possible and just stay stable with low doses of what seems to be working with little effect. After nearly 2 years of this bs Im not suicidal or psychotic anymore (i didnt have hallucination but my goodness). I have become an old slow lady physically n mentally in the span of a few years…maybe check out spiritual medicines bcos theres always an underlying story beneath all this. Wish u all the best ❤

During the withdrawal your cortisol levels are going to go up whether its from the withdrawal itself or the stress from the withdrawal I dont know but because of that its like 10x harder to sleep because you have the withdrawal and then the insomnia then the cortisol going up from the insomnia and withdrawal causing more insomnia. So its super important to try to lower those cortisol levels and destress as best you can. Accupuncture helps in my experience but only temporarily and can be expensive. But most of all STAY AWAY FROM TOXIC PEOPLE AND TOXIC ENVIRONMENTS. I know you might be desperate but toxic friends and family arent going to help

Hello Matt Thanks for your honesty and courage in sharing your experiences to help others. My son is having similar problems with his psych meds and watching your videos has given me resolve to seek an integrative psychiatrist who can wean him off these chemicals. My son is chemically sensitive, has developed akathisia which none of the hospitalizations or psychiatrists recognized. He was pacing furiously and in terror and anxiety. Their explanation is his anxiety caused the pacing. If experts are ignorant who can you trust? One question, did you ever consider ECT? Thanks for your response.

This had nothing to do with this particular KZbin video this information I am giving from experience. For anyone who feels suicidal thoughts if you feel it today wait until tomorrow and see how you feel tomorrow before you try and commit it because there is a chance that the following day you will not feel the same after you have rested and also invest in an eyemask to block out light while you rest it makes all the difference. So remember if you feel suicidal ideation wait till the following day I guarantee you will not feel the same way the next day. Don't worry the feelings will come back and every time they do wait until the next day and if you sleep the night before that is a plus

I had to revisit this video. I got a small break of sleeping two better for one and a half nights. Im terrified Matt. I cant go back to sleep because everytime I jolt awake is the existencial fear with the pshycosis and my nervous system cant calm down. The terror of the anticipation of waking up is what Infeel keeps me in the loop. Two nights ago I was shaking uncontrolably about to call 911 when I decided to drink a supplement that has vitamin B12 zinc and magnessium. I took a small zip and it stopped almost immediatly so I took it all. This was when I actually slept. Other times I wonder if I made it worse by everytime I jolted awake I would pop a melatoning and got so sleepy, at times it afforded me a few more minutes asleep but the experiemces while awaking were severe and more disturbing. I stopped the melatoning. Then my throat would itch and Inwould suffocate so I begun poping hallz every minute I woke up. Now I think that actually made it bad too. I am recupeeating from covid and I only slept good one night. I had to take an expectorant and a pain killer for the covid and so my sleep went bye bye again and I was jolted awake with a horrific new sensation that never ends,it never calms down. I avoid it and been awake since. I feel I cant do this anymore. I mean that. I feel like how can I just go through this without any help. Ive taken teas but I dont really know if they make things worse or not. This is long and all over the place but my brain is fried. As a last resort I had taken to try and sleep on the floor outside on my front porch. It worked once. Now it has been a fail. For some reason I cant even stand my bed. I dont even feel my self or know who I am. I feel like in autopilot. Its horrific.
@JoJo65654
@JoJo65654 10 ай бұрын
I was like that too. I could not stand my bed. I would nod off and then jerk awake with gut shivers and terror. For 2 years I would get less than 2 hours of sleep. I never yawned. I never felt sleepy. I call them toxic naps because waking was worse than no sleep. But it gets better. Calm returns, terror leaves and sleep comes slowly back into your routine. Started with 4 hours, then 5, now 6 or 7. Once you start sleeping you will gain confidence that this is beginning to end. Light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there. It gets better.

Hi Matt… Thank you so much for these KZbin videos. I am actually too sick to write what I really want so my husband may send you an email. I am wondering what your opinion is of using cannabis for pain or sleep. I, like you, am extremely sensitive and have had several setbacks due to having to take antibiotics and from a steroid and lidocaine injection for another chronic pain condition I suffer from along with this horrible , acute protracted withdrawal from being taken off of 4 mg of Klonopin in four weeks and 200 mg of Seroquel discontinued overnight. I have been bedridden for 16 months with so many symptoms. then I get this condition called pudendal neuralgia, which is also one of the most painful, chronic and progressive pain conditions. They also have support groups for this because so many want to end their lives because of the constant intense pain with really no cure. Anyway, I got off track here but I just wondered what your opinion is of using cannabis? Did you ever try it? I am scared too but at the same time I don’t know how much longer I can survive these two torturous conditions at once. Thanks again. 🙏❣️

Hey there. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My lived experience was really bad with using marijuana/CBD during my withdrawal. It made all of my symptoms way more severe. I’m in acute. I reinstated. It’s not working. Nothing is working. In such extreme pain and akathesia. Insomnia from hell. Dark thoughts. I’ve been on and off sertraline for twenty years. I made it 14 months off last summer and this happened. Reinstated for three months. Went off for ten months. Thought I was over it. It’s all back worse than ever. I’m 55. I can’t live this way. My original reason for taking was nothing!!! They gave them out like candy. PMS. Mild anxiety. I am heartbroken 💔 angry and so sick

I had never heard of this. Never knew it existed. The doctors totally missed it last summer and this summer because I was so long off. They thought I had some rare disease. Maybe tick born. Tons of tests. Nothing. I finally connected it. Searched SSRI long withdrawal omg!!!! I found my people. So horrible these stories. I know what you suffered Matt. Omg. It’s unreal the level of pain. I am in shock from it. Speechless

I’m being forced down from my benzodiazepines. I’m 56, soon to be 57. And I keep wondering why suffer like this? Why? I’m five years from one grandfather’s death, ten from the other. What have I to gain from this suffering? What? I’m serious. Why?

What do you think about magnesium spray?

I’m going to make a video in the next few days about supplements in general so keep an eye out for it. But magnesium didn’t do much for me personally, might’ve made me worse. Everyone is different though!

The two I was on the longest were Prozac and klonopin. No, but that is a common symptom. I had horrible skin for a long time.

How in GOD'S name did we get hooked on this garbage? Where were the doctors in telling us this stuff was ok? I get a bit angry sometimes. Listening to you is making me extremely nervous as I too suffered from akathesia. I never want to experience that again.

hey Matt! i'm going through withdrawals right now because i stopped cold turkey Aug 4. i had the worst insomnia for 2-3 weeks (like i could only sleep for about 30mins-1hr a day) until it got better. i'm able to sleep 4-5hrs a day now. BUT i don't feel sleepy or drowsy. i just sort of close my eyes and am able to sleep (which i'll take as a win). but does the drowsy feeling come back eventually? i'm worried about this 🥲 thank you for your videos! you have no idea how you saved my life 💖 i hope you're getting better and better each day!
