Symptoms of Dry Drowning

Dr. Fernando Mendoza, Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Baptist Children's Hospital, explains dry drowning is when the child or anybody has inhaled water through their trachea. He also says those symptoms manifest few hours later, usually within minutes to hours.
He recommends parents to take their children to ER if they suspect the kids are no okay to take an x-ray, and to get an oxygen level examination.

Had this happen to me... Its technically aspiration pneumonia. I inhaled water on a water slide at the swimming pool, it felt like i couldnt breathe at all or like i was breathing through a straw. I coughed and choked for about an hour. After that i felt chest pain, pressure, and started feeling incredibly tired. Later that night i got chills and a fever while still coughing. Doctor diagnosed aspiration pneumonia. Next few days i was very tired, took the meds, but could barely drink or eat without gasping for air. coughing quite a bit a high pitched barking noise. Coughed some blood too. i was very very tired and would get winded walking across a room. I lost 10 lbs during this process, but felt better within the week and felt totally healed after about a month. The meds they gave me were prednisone & azithromycin. I can swim reasonably well, but i do have asthma so this may have encouraged it to develop. Just sharing my experience if it helps anyone!

I swam today and felt fine while swimming but did inhale some water I think.. feeling sick to my stomach late that night and I have that swimming feeling that you get in your nose kinda... I hope I’m okay??

You would 100% know If you weren't OK..trust me. Its cured with rest and antibiotics if you have a lung infection A suspected drowning needs 911 called or to follow up in ER immediately. Dont delay. You wont have a doubt in your mind if you need help trust me

guys i inhaled some water through my nose hoping i swallow them to clean my nose somehow, I did swallow and spit a bit but not the whole amount of water i inhaled, i also nearly coughed but didn't, does that mean rest of the water went somewhere wrong may cause dry drowning or something?

Hmmmm, maybe I shouldn't try to breath while I'm in wavy waters
