The early stage of cirrhosis, often, is associated only with loss of appetite and generalised fatigue and weakness. When the disease progresses, Jaundice, abdominal distension, bloody vomiting, black coloured stools, itching and mental confusion may appear. These are all ominous signs and indicate advanced liver disease.
There are many tests that can be used to diagnose chronic liver disease. These includes blood examination (liver function tests), radiologic tests (sonography, CT scan, MRI scan), Endoscopy, Fibroscan and Liver biopsy.
