Very helpful. Most of the documentation you see on-line for Sync 4a is for a previous software version. When I first bought by 2024 I was confused because everything I was finding did not match the screens I was seeing in the car. Thanks for this.

No way to just keep it running.. the car has to be started again. You don't have to turn the engine over but if you want another run of the radio turned on, just put the car into accessory mode for a second and then turn the car back off again

I haven't seen anyone successful switch from the last generation Sync3 to this new Sync4.. different modules between them so it wouldn't just be plug and play. Assuming you could swap the modules some features would work while others would be lost

Just bought a 24 Edge Titanium. Not impressed with the GPS on this screen. Is there a way to get more detail, more colour? Also, it shows a small icon if the spped limit, but not your actual speed or when you are over the posted limit. My 2012 Journey Garmin GPS seemed to have more features

You can't adjust the navigation contrast or colors unfortunately.. outside of switching the whole screen into night mode. I think the reason why there's no live vehicle speed is because it'll be right in front of you in the cluster vs the GPS would need it for tracking data purposes

I have two Apple phones to connect. Can one be set for car play and the other just rings for call? I would like my business and personal phones connected but just pick the main one. For example evenings and weekends I don’t use the business one but can the personal one be saved? In my 2014 edge you could have multiple phones on a list depending who was driving and choose one phone as a favourite for the default connection. Is that still a possibility. Every time I try to add a second phone it wants to shut off car play. FYI it’s a 2024 ford edge titanium 301a package if that matters

From what I understand it can be either an active bluetooth connect with multiple phones or Apple CarPlay/Android Auto but not both. But... try it and see! Connect the first over bluetooth, then say no when the CarPlay connection prompt pops up and then connect the second and enable CarPlay.. Check the 12:00 mark of the video. I connect an Android as well and show you the screen to select your connections

Thanks! You could probably replace the dash to make it fit.. but they have different modules so you can't just do a screen swap. Unsure if it's compatible with aftermarket boxes..

There's no way to delete previous radio stations outside of performing a full factory reset. You'd be able to overwrite them though by doing a press and hold!

I've seen someone go from Sync2 to Sync3 in the Edge but haven't come across an upgrade kit from 3 to 4.. It would be different wiring and modules, plus chances are not all the features would work

Not all devices are compatible. How old is your iPod and are you connecting to the USB-A or USB-C port?

Hi Steve. Have you updated your 4a to version 4.2.2 ? I have a ST-Line and applied it. The description on my dash says there should be a personal profile setting in the menu and on the top right of the screen. Been working with Sync support and a dealer and they can’t agree if it should or shouldn’t. All I find online says it should.

Hey! I don't think I've seen an Edge with personal profiles in the Sync4 screen yet. Some Ford vehicles with Sync4 have it and you'd access it by pressing the icon on the top left

Steve, I received my 2024 Ford Edge Titanium Elite, and I noticed it does not have Auto Hold, do you know if Ford is going to add it to the car in the future or if there is a way to get Ford to add it to the line. I called Ford Support and they told me it should be there, (in the features page on the touch screen) but it doesn't exist.

Pretty sure Ford did an oopsie and forgot to add that feature in or take out the mention of it in the owner's manual. I've been reviewing these for a few years and haven't seen an Edge with Auto Hold anywhere

For factory navigation, press the button on the top left side and then the Navigation button. If you're on the previous gen Sync 4 it'll be the button with 6 dots in the middle on the top of the screen. Some entry level trims - SE / SEL - won't have factory navigation so if the button isn't there yours doesn't have it. You'd need to connect to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and use navigation from your phone instead

I have a new Edge ST that doesn’t have the navigation icon. I can go I to it through my Appleplay only.

The Edge needs the Ford Co-Pilot360™ Assist+ package to get factory navigation.. No easy way to add it in either.. the whole screen would need to be replaced with one that has the navigation module. Going to have to stick with CarPlay unless you can find an Edge at a scrapyard that has navigation in it...

You have to add waze to android auto on the phone in android auto app settings atleast thats how you used to do it

Depends on which app you're using and if you've downloaded offline maps before your trip. I did a 5,000km road trip last year using Waze, with it running almost all the time, and used about 4 GB in a week

Exciting about the new ride! Adjust the time is covered off in this video under settings but if you click on the clock it should give you the option to adjust the clock settings

My gfs Ford Edge won’t allow her to use 6 Rows. Can anybody figure out why?

This video shows how to add additional rows but if you physically can't select more than 2, the first thing to try would be to change to SiriusXM and then go to radio settings which should show additional rows. If that doesn't work try resetting the screen by pressing and holding both the Volume Down and Seek Right buttons on the steering wheel controls for 10 seconds.

I was caught off guard when I saw the Sync 4 a system for the first time. Hopefully they did market research to figure out if people actually liked the design
