I would probably suggest not trying anything that causes pain, which sounds obvious, I know. But there was definitely a time in my life when I didn't think twice about dancing on concrete or in rubber-soled shoes. Nowadays, the body isn't as forgiving, so I'm a bit more cautious. In short, I wouldn't try to dance on carpet if the movement hurts, but if you're ok with it then I say go for it!

Maybe it is not how it's done, but it doesn't have to be done by the holy book of jazz steps. I like the way he moves and he seems to get great joy out of it. Look at his face and the way he moves....it is more than obvious. :)
