ugh, every videos mentions the same step is hard *and then skips showing it*. To get the case open, gently lever the left side wall so that the little plastic tabs facing the front clear the metal cross-bar and then push back on the left side (apply pressure to the left side front of the case, pushing towards the rear) of the case somewhat firmly. It'll move a few cm back and can then be lifted off easily.
