Nice instructive video, I like. I do have a question though, about that mysterious PhotoLibrary folder: When I create a new user and they start to use the Photos app it seems to depend on what method they use to upload as to which folder their photos go to. If they use SMB to put their folder structure into their /home/photos (that's what the documentation says it should go to), then both Folder View and Timeline View work fine (after indexing). But if they ever have used File Station, using drag and drop into a browser window, then Photos creates an intermediary subfolder called PhotoLibrary and puts all the photos in a subfolder structure in /year/month format according to perceived (that is another discussion...) "Date Created". This leads to the following questions: 1) Why is this extra intermediary folder created? 2) When uploading photos, especially if they are already in a nicely curated /year/month structure, do you recommend to upload the folders with SMB or with File Station? I would be very grateful for any suggestions on this puzzling issue...

Moments had a way of searching within the photos (forgot the name). For example, I could search Bill (who’s face is recognized) and “lake.” The search results would yield all phots of Bill in front of a lake with no tags necessary. I actually wish I stayed on DSM 6 so I’d still have this feature. I hope it gets added to Photos soon.

I am a current Synology user (DS920+, DS1522+). Would like to see much more information on moving from Apple iCloud photo storage to Synology. How can I insure that all, FULL resolution photos will move from my iCloud photos storage to Synology. Additionally, will all of the meta data from Apple Photos be moved to Synology Photos, ie, Captions, Keywords, Titles, etc? Thank you for this presentation.

I’d suggest that your videos be done in at least 1080 so that the smaller details on the screen are clearer. 4k would be even better. I did like the presentation.

Good information but you failed to tell us how to sync only new photos or videos from our ipad to our personal space in the NAS? Evgeniya, there were many demonstrations you did which your thoumbnail view (of yourself in the video) blocked so we could not see what to click on nor the full sidebar list. And when you zoomed in on a highlighted page it was poor quality plus difficult to read. Couldn’t you have recorded in at least 1080? You did a great job with the the verbal portion and structure of the presentation!

There's one flaw in personal space. There should be an indicator showing that a photo is included in an album. currently there is no way to tell. Very hard to sort them this way.

Can I save a photo straight from the camera on a phone, to Synology photos? (By passing the employees phone storage, and into the company's NAS storage?)

Thanks for the webinar. My wife and me have both setup a backup of our mobile phones using the synology photos application using the option to upload all the folders. The problem is, that when I send a photo via whatsapp it will appear twice in the photos app of synology, once from them camera and once from the whatsapp. Is there a way to circumvent that? I don't want to only upload them Camera photos and I do have the option "skip if the photo already exists" enabled.. Any suggestions would be welcome!!!

One idea would be to set WhatsApp to not save all media in the Photos app? This way you could save only the photos that you want and not just everything that you send and/or receive.

Is there also the possibility to add people or tag as exclusion during ALBUM creation? So that should / must NOT be included? e.g. + holiday, + Mediterranean, + ship, - Christmas 14:40

I have begun to create albums in the synology photos app, however when I select the slideshow option I cannot seem to find any settings which would allow me to change the duration of the slide before it moves on to the next slide. Did Synology overlook this setting option when they updated this package; or am I just not looking in the right place to change this setting?

you can't share albums on the internet! So there is google photos and easy sharing with whoever you want!

I would like to be able to tag an entire photo album OR all photos in an album to be able to assign TAGS to the entire album or all photos in it in one go. I have not found a way to do this yet?! Do you have a tip for me? (Google translate)

Date sort is very poor. Does not use 'photo create date'. Maybe uses last modify date or date copies to disk- whatever - makes this program quite useless to use when you need to rely on date sort.

It sounds all so logical and easy. But it does not take away the problems that I experience for months now. I cannot upload photos from my iPhone. Not by hand, not automatically. It must be the path, but on my mobile I can't find any settings for that. I have been browsing the web and KZbin for solutions without any success. Your video doesn't help either. I'm desperate and about to ditch Synology for photos.

Sorry, but the fact that I cannot view my photos using Synology Photos via my TV using Firestick is simply bad. Apparently, people used to be able to do it, but not an upgrade is now more like a downgrade.

It is misleading that Synology Photos and Lightroom work together other than sharing a common folder. you CAN NOT tag photos with keywords in lightroom and have those tags/keywords show in Synology Photos! BIG FAIL!

Frankly this program is not useful for families but single users. It has a lot of potential but is currently a work in progress. Here is a typical FAMILY scenario. Mum, Dad and 2 kids.They have several thousand digital photos already. They install Synology Photos and then realize there is no common directory to put all their photos in. They then realize that copying all of the old photos into one persons gallery means that person now needs to select each photo individually to share out. You cant do a "select all". Dad diligently fills in all of the family member tags and then realizes that these are not able to be shared in common either. Evey youtube video I have watched shows this app is bare bones with the presenters trying to get it to work well but being frustrated with the poor design choices. Quite disheartening really.
