I relate sooooo harrrrrrd to this behaviour. I say god I should build a trap...then thinks of the hassle of going back to base and grabbing structures needed.....going back and building (if I can, provided no enemy pillars nearby).....then I just stubbornly stay there and keep taming LOL I often wonder if it takes me longer to do it this way than to plan ahead....but I can tame mantis fast w NO trap. Just use wyv wings to get rid of all other tames. then kill one by one. dont harvest bodies, let mantis do it. once area is clear, start taming. Use bug repellant and ghille!!!

You can make a mantis trap using stone, make it 1 by 1 surround it by walls 3 walls high, and add a ramp on 1 side leading down to the ground. Then you can drop a mantis down next to it and lead him there with aggro on foot using the ramp. Then just fly away and you can reset his aggro and he’s stuck in the trap. A nice bonus is that you can feed him through the trap with no ghille or bug repellent

The Mantis with a really good pickaxe can farm tons of element both on genesis(inside the volcano) and on extinction(through element veins). And they can farm lots of polymer inside the bees' cave on crystal isles if equiped with a good hatchet.

I think with this build (unless you already have an idea) you should go more vanilla season 4 style. In other words before things like the DS mod that pretty much eliminates Dino areas in the base. If you want to make that whole area your base, your gonna need buildings to fill up the area, because if not it’s gonna be too much space and not enough to fill it. I think a cool idea would be to keep the DS mod, but only put your most used creatures in it, and the rest of them build areas for like you had to in your vanilla series. Another neat thing is to use vaults. I know they are expensive and big and annoying, but they force you to increase the size of your base, which is perfect if your gonna take so much land of your own. I know he probably won’t see this but if you want to leave a like so he can at least notice the idea and think on it for himself that would be great.

Syntac Krate Dragons in the Star Wars universe can get ridiculously huge they grow indeterminantly & can live for thousands of years the largest one was over 3Km long & was able to pray of Sarlacc's. The one in the Mandolorian was actually small for the species.

Best thing to do when doing mantis in the desert is make a 6×6 stone trap with 3 high walls drop them in so they can't fight anything

Easy way to tame mantis is drop it in a 1x1 box and feed through wall. No bug spray needed. For arthropleura, just box needs to be 2x1 since the first 1/3 of its body is the head.

Hey syntac, this has probably been suggested to you before, but I have what could make a cool idea for a series. You know how Pokémon has what’s called a “nozlok” challenge or whatever it’s called. Maybe try something similar to that with ark? You’re only able to tame one male, and one female of a species. If they die they die, but obviously that would make boss fights almost impossible, so you can breed lol 😂😂 But yeah I think that’d be a bit more of a difficult series, a bit more of a challenge. Rules: You can’t tame two males or two females of any species, just one and one to allow for breeding. I don’t know how that would work for things without genders, but maybe you could figure that out? 😂😂 Any and all mods you’d like, and the rest of the rules can be made up by you. When I tame Mantis, I drop them in a 1x1 box that is 2 walls high. They can't see through the walls to agro on anything and you can feed "through" the walls.

Syntac when babies grow up and they go into the ground, if you have a creature that can be moved by being hit, you can punch them to fix it. It might not work with Mantis’ bc they seem super buggy.

Fun fact: The reason wyvern, argent, Pteranodon, ect. Run out of stam. So fast is because even when you are hovering not still sprinting while hovering but like walking speed. Is because even when hovering they lose stam. Just a tad bit slower

the mantis was made for sorched earth so it bugs out on other maps i know this by experience the best way to stop it is to have them stand in a thin sheet of water or on sand this stops them from vibrating
