If you go back to Goblet of Fire, the reason why when the fake prof. Moony taught the class about the 3 unforgivable curses, he use Neville to answer the question is because he knew his comrade (Bellatrix lestrange) was the one who tortured neville's parent, so it would have been ENJOYABLE to see Neville in agony at the sight of the spell used on his parent being used on something else. when you realize that, its pretty dark and messed up.

I don't know if anyone in the comments explained, but, in the book, Sirius tells Harry that the burn marks in family tree are for people that did the family dirty. Sirius is burned because he was openly opposed to dark magic and Voldemort's regime. His cousin's Nymphadora (DON'T CALL ME NYMPHADORA) Tonks is also burned, because, in addition to being as much of a blood traitor as Sirius, she also married a werewolf (Lupin), further tainting the Black family bloodline. Every time Harry's at Sirius's house, a portrait of Sirius's mom screams the most vile of insults about how much of a disappointment Sirius was.

James was a bully, yes but at least he grow up and matured at one point, but Snape, he became a teacher and bullied his students

One thing I want to mention is when Sirius died, we see him disappear through that mysterious archway, I think in the books the only thing wizards and witches know about it is that when you step through it you disappear and die. In the books Sirius wasn't hit with the killing curse, he was just hit with a spell that knocked him back into it, so you have this sense of hope that he might still be alive, but sadly he isn't (I'm pretty sure his death is confirmed in the book using the people around Harry, but I don't know. I didn't read the 5th book, but I have seen many videos on the books and their lore). I do plan on re-reading the first 4 books, and reading the rest when I can. Something else I wanted to mention was Bellatrix Lestrange. You saw her in this movie and the 6th. And in the 6th movie, you meet her sister who turns out to be Draco Malfoy's mother (meaning Bellatrix is Draco's aunt). And Bellatrix not only killed Sirius Black (Harry's God Father and her cousin), but she also helped Barty Crouch Jr. (alongside her husband and his brother) to torture to insanity (but not kill) Neville's parents. So, Draco's aunt tortured Neville's parents, is a death eater (like his father), and now, killed Harry's God Father and his (Draco's) cousin (of some kind). Harry and Neville definitely have every reason to hate Draco and his family. You learn quite a bit in this movie and the next.

RE M-C's confusion about Order of the Phoenix: Dumbledore started it when Voldemort and his Death Eaters began their attacks years before, and so named for Dumbledore's phoenix Fawkes (named after Guy Fawkes). Like the kids' Dumbledore's Army later, it was recruits and volunteers willing to fight in a good cause. It's not an ongoing organization, it's whoever Dumbledore trusts to be of service. PS Dumbledore's patronus is also a phoenix, so in a way the Order is named after their leader whose symbol is a phoenix.

My understanding is that Hagrid's mother was a giant and his father was a very talented wizard of unusually-short stature. In the previous film Hagrid tells Madame Maxine that, at age 3, he could pick up his father and set him on a dresser. Madame Maxine vigorously denied to everyone that she was part giant, claiming she was just 'big-boned', but her height argues that she is. Giants are brutish creatures of limited intelligence. On average, they run about 20ft in height. Half-giants vary in intelligence and average about 10ft in height. Madame Maxine is quite intelligent, having risen to headmistress of the Beauxbaton Academy in France. Still, her height of 10ft betrays her ancestry. Hagrid's intelligence is good enough to keep up in school, to be fairly well-spoken, and able to read and write (even if his spelling is not great). He is able to think well-enough on his feet to mostly keep his personal secrets, but not crafty enough to keep others' secrets so well. And his father's short stature shows in Hagrid being only 8ft tall. As I understand it, Hagrid was immediately smitten with Madame Maxine, love at first sight. But her embrace of prejudice against giants and denial of her own ancestry was Hagrid's deal-breaker for their relationship. Hagrid takes pride in who he is and he took Madame Maxine's denials personally. Tragic, that Hagrid and Madame Maxine share both magical and giant ancestry and intelligence enough to easily communicate but cannot find happiness with each other. So much in common when there is so few opportunities to find a kindred spirit.

I had not made the connection between MoM interference in Hogwarts with current events surrounding debates on education. This is why I love watching reactions like this, the time and place when you first experience a piece of media absolutely has an influence on what messages stand out to the new viewer, and makes it fresh for returning viewers. You are absolutely spot on here, Umbridge is sent to Hogwarts to influence the youth and control the narrative by withholding and limiting what they are allowed to learn. It is absolutely a tactic employed by governments looking to control thought and stifle actions that run counter to the government's goals. Just want to point out, Snape could not show up during the battle. His role at this point of the story is as a double agent, if he were to show up, he would be forced to pick a side and potentially blow his cover. This movie is also one of my favorites, which is funny because the book is not. In the book, Harry gets very ALL CAPS in his anger, and it's kind of hard (for me) to sympathize with him when he lets his anger take over, hurting the people around him in the process. I think the movie does a mich better job conveying the PTSD Harry is going through, and making his emotions easier to understand. This film also introduces my least favorite character (Umbridge is the nost hated character in HP and that's mostly due to the absolutely amazing work from her actor, it feels good? to hate her) and my number one favorite, Luna. The actress they found for Luna is exactly how I imagined her in my head when reading the books. I love her friendship with Harry, they have a unique bond as people who understand what it's like to be an outsider, and I feel that Luna is able to share wisdom with Harry in a way that no one else can. She doesn't have any expectations from him, she merely says what's on her mind, and I think that's freeing for Harry.
@Persewna49 ай бұрын
Oh, also, didn't want to say this on your Half-Blood Prince reaction to avoid spoilers, but I do think if there was a film to accidentally skip over, this is definitely the one that has the least impact. Yes, you were spoiled on Srius's fate, but otherwise, this one is the pause, the lull, before the storm. Not much happens in terms of overarching plot, because most of the Wizarding world is unwilling or unable to acknowledge Voldemort's return, and the fact that that everything will change as a result. Absolutely not a film to miss though, not with the introduction of Umbridge, but otherwise, plot wise, not a lot was missed.

Things in The Order of the Phoenix novel that are not in the movie; Mrs. Fig is a Squib (a person born from a wizarding family but unable to do magic) who was Harry's neighbor for many years. She was even mentioned often throughout the book series. But Harry never knew that Mrs. Fig is actually part of the wizarding community. Harry actually found out about Hagrid being a half giant by mistake during Goblet of Fire. Hagrid's biological mother, Fridwulfa is a giant. Hagrid's father was a wizard. Grawp is Hagrid's brother by way of their giant mother. Ron's brother, Percy had a falling out with the Weasley family. He never believed Harry's story about Voldemort's return and was on the side of the Minister of Magic. Neville's parents are very much alive and are permanent patients at Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. Because of all the torture that Bellatrix, her husband and Barty Crouch Junior inflicted on them they are mentally damaged. While visiting Mr. Weasley in the hospital Harry, Ron and Hermione come across Neville and his grandmother and was able to meet Neville's parents. The Weasley twins weren't expelled. They quit school. When Harry won the Tri Wizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire he gave his winnings to the twins. Harry originally tried to give it to Cedric's father but he refused to take it. As a result of Harry giving it to the twins Fred and George started using the money to start a side business and made Harry as a secret investor and silent partner. That is why the twins kept inventing all sorts of magical practical joke sweets throughout Order of the Phoenix. When the Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny and Luna flew the Thestrals the majority of them couldn't see what it was they were flying. Earlier in the school year they did learn about Thestrals in Magical Beasts class when Hagrid introduced them to the students. Those who had witnessed death had no trouble seeing them. But the rest couldn't and all they saw was raw meat being devoured by some invisible entities. When the group flew the Thestrals it was as if they were flying on thin air. They can feel the animals but couldn't see them. In the end of the book when Harry talks to Dumbledore in his office, Dumbledore reveals that the prophecy actually came from Professor Trelawney and it was he who witnessed Professor Trelawney make prophecy while she was in a trance. The prophecy was; "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." Dumbledore said that two babies were born at the end of July. Harry Potter and Neville Longbottom. Though the prophecy fit Neville just the same as Harry because Neville's parents also defied Voldemort three times, it was Harry that Voldemort chose to kill instead of Neville. It is believed that Voldemort chose Harry because Harry's mother was a muggleborn. Neville's parents are purebloods. During the last evening at Hogwarts Harry desperately runs to the ghost of Nearly Headless Nick and tries to talk to him about Sirius possibly coming back as a ghost. But Nick tells Harry that the only reason why Nick is a ghost residing at Hogwarts is because he refused to move on to the beyond. He refused to let go and wanted to remain. Nick explained to Harry that Sirius moved on. 📚🪄🔮

Snogging is british for kissing. Sirius's mother was unforgiving of family that took different views to hers so she burned their portraits from family tree. Sirius is one that is burned. Bellatrix is a cousin to the Black family. Her sister is draco's mom.

So when it comes to the red and black robes as far as I can recall in the book it never mentions anything about them. I think that's just something the movie did. When it comes to the word Snogging, and anyone from the UK please correct me if I'm incorrect but I believe that's their term of making out. So it's a real world word, which is used in the UK

Voldemort could put false images into Harry's mind, so he didn't need anyone to pretend to be Sirius.

Hey guys, about snogging. It is a UK term for making out like Americans using the term necking. The Order of the Phoenix was originally put together by Dumbledore to fight Voldemort & the Death Eaters in the 1st Wizarding War when Voldemort 1st came to power. Harry's parents were killed & Neville's parents were tortured into madness. That is why Neville was raised by his grandmother. The prophecy was about a boy born @ the end of July & the Dark Lord would mark him as his equal. There were 2 boys born @ the end of July that could have fulfilled the prophecy, Harry & Neville. The night Voldemort made the prophecy come true by trying to kill Harry in his crib & marking him w/the scar, Bellatrix & Barty Crouch Jr. tortured Neville's parents trying to find out where they had hidden baby Neville because Voldemort wanted both boys dead. A thing about Hagrid that I don't think u realize is he is a half-giant that was why Dumbledore sent him to talk w/the giants. It is also when he found out he had a half-brother who is a full giant. Hagrid's brother had no one to care for him & was bullied by the other giants so Hagrid took him w/him. As far as I know, everybody hates Umbridge/"the lady in pink". Now, we see why Snape is always on Harry's case because he was bullied by Harry's dad James. Harry mostly resembles his father, but has his mother's eyes. James Potter became a better man thanks to Lily. Syntell, when u said "It's a Dobby like creature." I wanted to laugh. The house elf that serves the Black family is called Kreacher.😊 Because u watched THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE 1st, u didn't get to see Dumbledore's power that was displayed in this one. In the book, he out did Voldemort in their wizard battle. The movie makes it seem like they were evenly matched. 😑 When u watched THE. HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, u were like "About time he shows something..." when he created the ring of fire to get rid of those zombie things coming out of the water. HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is my favorite of the movie franchise. But, out of the books, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire is my favorite. Anyway, great reaction.😊👍

2:34 Fun Fact: The Patronus Charm’s Incantation “Expecto Patronum” (Pronounced ex-PEK-toh pa-TRO-num) Is Actually Latin For “I Await A Guardian” So What Harry Yelled Translated Into English Is “I Await A Guardian!!”, However What Harry Did Is Underage Magic, However In The Wizarding Law, Any Witch Or Wizard Under The Age Of 17 Years Old Are Allowed To Use Magic Only In Life-Threatening Situations So Harry Had Every Right To Conjure The Patronus Charm In The Presence Of A Muggle At 15 Years Old, So Legally The Ministry Can’t Legally Expel Harry For Defending Himself Because Underage Witches And Wizards Are Allowed To Use Magic But Only If It’s In Self-Defence Or To Protect Others From Creatures From The Wizarding World When Muggles Can’t Protect Themselves From Them

Albus Dumbledore founded the Order of the Phoenix in the 1970s to fight Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The Order's name comes from the magical bird, the phoenix, which can come back to life after death. The Order was disbanded after Voldemort's first defeat, but it was reformed in 1995 after Voldemort returned.

I wanted to say that I absolutely loved the last videos you've done. I really enjoyed them. but this one you cut a huge section out completely and jumped from Harry's trial to halfway through umbridge's wrath. I know time restrictions are a thing but you cut out a good 60-70% of the movie. And I would absolutely love to do the patreon thing but I don't have the movie or any apps that have it so I wouldn't even be able to follow your reaction. Anyway they were good reviews. Even though your wife? (Don't remember if you said) seems to be a mind reader or just really good at knowing things because she picked a lot of things out that I wouldn't have gotten my first time through watching and I thought I was really perceptive. Kudos to you. But anyway Thx for the review is was a good ride.❤

the word snog has nothing to do with Harry Potter😂😂The earliest known use of the adjective snog is in the early 1500s. OED's earliest evidence for snog is from 1513, in a translation by Gavin Douglas, poet and bishop of Dunkeld. snog is apparently a borrowing from early Scandinavian. To snog is to kiss. A couple might snog throughout an entire two hour movie. The verb snog is British slang for kiss, cuddle, or make out. It's a word that is more and more common in American English as well, as a casual way to talk about kissing.

I feel you down to my soul as I listened to you guys talking about the american school system and things tying with the government in everything. I am a Transgender guy and this past year has been really stressful and has me filled with anxiety about the future and I am saddened by the state of our country and our leadership and civilization here and I feel this movie draws some interesting parallels. Also - I am in love with their casting of Dolores Umbridge - in the book she's described as looking like a grinning toad, and the actress who plays her (not sure of the name) in some shots, look VERY much like that description!!

🔔🚲 so Dumbledore sent Hagrid to find giants that didn't like Voldemort. Cuz Dumbledore knew a war was coming. Unfortunately Hagrid came too late to find supporters but he did find people that knew his mom. He found out the rumors he'd been told all his life were true; he WAS half giant. But giants are supposed to be evil, darker-skinned, uncivilized savages (🙄 you see the inspiration). So Hagrid went & found his baby brother

This is my favorite of the BOOKS so my first few times watching the movie I was disappointed. There are several dropped subplots, but they are enriching, rather than necessary (like you SEE Neville visiting his insane now parents at the Hospital when they go there to see Arthur--it is a show in the book and just a brief tell here). But the movie has grown on me. Bellatrix and Umbridge were PERFECTLY cast villian.s
