😅 the image is so stretched I had a hard time recognizing the rev2
@brianlespoir6287 Жыл бұрын
I even haven't sold my Prophet 08 after I got the REV2 and use them both in every track. I always start in midi without recording and when I have all my ingredient for a song I start arranging and recording and knowing these synths so well they give me inspiration.

@@robappleby583 Yeah not my favourite! So hard for some synths to get the perfect knobs! But they are fie really its interface is pretty dam good! So easy to sound design on it after a little while using.. and knob per function mostly. Incredibly Deep but very easy mod matrix.

I also made a patch of the sequence from save a prayer on my rev2, however yours sounds a bit closer to the original than mine but it’s darn close. Seems like you have a little more delay added in, could be what I’m missing on my patch. Nice work!
@nagchumpalot Жыл бұрын
Actually like I said in the description most of these are from Raheem Hosien (Isolate) pack go check it out! But yes it does require just the right amount of delay.. Putting this video up is really a big reminder for me o never sell it.

yep workhorse of a synth, upgraded mine to 16voice so maximum stack capability.... I have a Ti2 which is beasty to the max in digital synth terms but REV2 has a unique quality about it.... Creative Spiral on YT has some good things on doing vintage mode stuff using the sequencer to do detune on voicing (only REV2 could use the sequencer as a mod matrix Source) also Robust american patches have some unique sounds that show its complete versatility.... cannot do OB-6 SEM stuff though (patch 007 broken Ep is a classic patch) so probably ultimate duo right there if OB-6 wasnt so damn expensive....
@nagchumpalot Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've been thinking about possible 16 voice upgrade but I´m not missing them for what I do yet.. I`ve had many virus synths in the past! Indigo 2 was my first synth! Miss it for that reason. I´m trying to not buy any synths and learn with what I have.. My hands are full with what I own more sound power than I will need but there are so many good synths being built theses days its a real renaissance..

I seriously considered selling my 16 voice REV2 to fund my already purchased OB-6, but now I'm having trouble letting go after programming all these nicely layered patches. Sure, it can't growl or fizzle like the OB-6, and yes, it takes time to dial in good sounds... but as a player, the REV2 is such a joy to play and hear. Far more diverse compared to the OB-6. Its my first subtractive synth which brought me into the magical world of sound design. Wish me luck in making a decision.

Well. Too late. I already sold my Prophet REV2 just tecently. I had the 16-voice. Don't get me wrong. It is/was a good synth. For a while, it was one of my favorites. I bought it and kept it for over two years. It's very flexible and capable of a lot. However, after now owning a Polybrute, Prophet 10,and going to Guitar Center and playing around with the OB-X8 then coming back to the REV2, I tastes have changed in regards to it’s sound. I sold the REV2 because it became my least favorite synth out of the others I now own and I needed the money to cover moving expenses. Something had to go. However, I hope to compliment my Prophet 10 with an Oberheim OB-X8 someday when I can actually afford it.

Great sounds. Are you using an external Reverb module ?
@nagchumpalot3 ай бұрын
Hi , Its a bit hard to remember actually! but I think yes.. a little hall reverb on some of the pad sounds but a lot of the sequence type sounds were Rev 2 effects. Rev 2 effects are not bad but not going to be as good as a high quality pedal reverb.

@nagchumpalot Жыл бұрын
Yeah many people make that mistake they just can't give a synth the time it needs.. The REV 2 can just do everything analog and more so well.
@passivehouseaustralia44066 ай бұрын
hey I hear you.... but um go look at an Access Ti2 with 120 voices, 16 multi timberality, 192 effects that can be done in parallel etc and prepare to feel much more pain.... can do insane stuff sonically though.... the secret sauce of rev to is its limits, then you just stack in a second patch just a bit different and you get BIG sounds... thats why I went 16 voice with addon card...

@nagchumpalot9 ай бұрын
Hi, I would suggest the REV 2 it has so much sound design potential but has a very well thought out way of doing things. You can set up very complex modulations if you want but it´s not complicated to do because the user interface is so well done. I think its a synth you can really grow into as well as having all the Bread and Butter sounds you need instantly there in the Presets.. Plenty to explore and there are great tutorials all over KZbin! Just take your time to learn by watching tutorials and you will get the hang of it in no time.

@@nagchumpalotthank you I really appreciate the time you took to reply and Im happy I stumbled on this video, keep it up :) . I wasn't sure if I'd regret my choice even though they both sound awesome but the rev 2 also has the polyphonic sequencer that you can play on top of. Now it's between the keybed or module 😆 even though I would love the portability with my arturiakey step or my Korg MicroStation I think I might go for the keybed version as haven't heard anything bad about it and it would slaughter my Korg MicroStation in every way even though I like it.

Do you have to know what the issue would be ? I'm kinda new to this but can it be my cable ? As I have a 3.5 stereo coming out with 1/4 stereo in rev 2 do I maybe need a mono one for the pitch antenna to work? Greatly appreciated, thanks
