This is true and I even thought about making fun of him a little for it, but I thought about it and realized that most of the games that I like were completed in my teens. Although I play now, I rarely do, mainly because most modern games have zero interest in me. I think there is some element of imprinting associated with age, because many of the childhood games that I liked, I would hardly have played without previous experience. For example, Solomon's Key is a basic puzzle, of which there were plenty on Nintendo, but I was looking for this one because it was the one I played once. But this does not mean that all old or childish games are bad, rather that the barrier to entry will be higher with your age and experience.

He also said the fact that speedrunning exists for SM64 proves the game is not too hard/controls are good. Well, speedrunning exists for Elden Ring and SOTE as well. But then the argument was "who cares if I'm not having fun". Well, the guy making the video obviously didn't have fun "learning the controls" or suffering through them irregardless of what the speedrunners demonstrate.

@ahoramazda6864Ай бұрын
You are being too generous. The very fact that some games were included in the list is already pretty telling. Undertale, which received eighth place, requires zero explanation. Of course, I can't speak for Synthetic, but I can speak for myself. This game is terrible. Dialogues don't exist, the plot is a rehash of Witcher 1, only for furries. The author of the game personally hates freedom of choice and challenge, so mock and belittles it. The game is impossible to beat on hardcore mode, literally, and beating the boss in the "bad" ending itself is barely possible, but if you do, it will lock your game. At the same time, the ending that the author considers “the best and truest” is the easiest and promotes rainbow stuff. The gameplay is very boring and monotonous. You just dodge the bullets. Interaction with the world is very limited. Although the game is very primitive and it is easier to program anything in it, it has fewer features than many games that came before.... Which brings me to the next point. Everything in Undertale has already been done better by other developers. GTA 4 (2008) has a much better friend system and you actually interact with them, Fallout New Vegas (2011) had more choice and rainbow characters are not so stereotypical and on the nose. Fallout 3 (2008) explored the theme of "child serial killer" much better. And this is just him the top of my head. Of course, Undertale was supposedly made for the half-weeb half-nostalgia crowd that played Earthbound... But let's be honest - the game's main fanbase is furries. But because normies who don't like games praise Undertale, mainly because of the music, the perception of the game is refracted and becomes very distorted. As a result, it turns out that people either ignore or praise the Steven Universe analogue in terms of the videogames.

I re-visit my comment and want to add some important details to it, because English is not my native language. 1) Technically, dialogues exists in the game. The other characters talk to the main character, but he rarely has anything to say in response. Often the MC cannot ask questions and interact with the world like in normal RPGs. He barely talks and often it doesn't matter. This would be forgivable if the game presented plot information in other ways. But no, near the end there is still an massive infodump waiting for the player. In normal games, I would find out everything myself if I wanted, by talking to a characters. 2) Overall, the main plot is very simple and dumb, but it was deliberately contrived with timelines and stuff to be pretentious. Similar ideas have already existed in RPGs, moreover, mainstream and popular ones. I wasn't touched to the core by twist in Witcher 1, so my reaction to the same, but weaker twist was even more diluted. Moreover, the point is not only that Witcher came out earlier, in 2007, but also that the player spends much more time with the character around whom the twist is built. 3) Rainbow-stuff is much more noticeable in this game than in New Vegas and Disco Elysium. It’s one thing when in a city of debauchery and vice you find one gay and one lesbian as potential followers (i.e. you can take them into a team.. or not ) or there is a gays in a Weimar-esque decadent country, it’s another thing when for a good ending the CHILD must act as a matchmaker for two gay dudes and two lesbians. Deltarune only confirmed Toby's obsession with lesbians and children, which is very strange, but fly under the radars of normies. 4) Technically, the game has choices and different endings, but the balance is built not according to logic, but according to the morality of the author. Simply put - if in Fallout 2 or Fallout New Vegas you have to put effort to get good endings, then in Undertale, on the contrary, it is easier to get the best ending than bad one. Moreover, to get the worst ending, you need to try very hard to overcome the ocean of monotonous gameplay in order to end up facing final boss who is a total cheater. It is impossible to react to his latest attack - you either have to know the pattern or cheat yourself. But my problem is not with hardness, but with logic. The author does not like hard mode in other games, so in his game, after the first boss in hard mode, the game will be locked... Just like when you get a bad ending. This doesn't happen in normal games, because the authors respect the player and don't resort to emotional blackmail on the level of "If you don't want gays to get married, then you'll get the worst ending and won't be able to play my wholesome game!" 5) The gameplay is boring, monotonous, killing is not satisfying. Okay, the author doesn't want us to play as villains. Maybe it's better to play as goody-two-shoes? Nope! There are just as few interactions with characters and the world as in other playthroughs. The only difference is that the battles are a little shorter in some cases and instead of a scene of executions you get extra lines of dialogues. I won't lie, the difference between different playthroughs and styles exist, however, is not significant. Normies can easily overlook all these minor changes. 6) Everything Toby tries to show or say has been done before him, and done much better, from RPG without killings to simple themes like friendship. I haven't played many games, but even with my limited experience, Undertale seemed very stale and cliched to me. Many themes from the game have been explored before and, most importantly, explored in a much more elaborate way. 7) Everyone praises the music and often adds it to videos, although there are a lot of similar games with similar music. For example, Lisa the Painful. By the way, this is a much better indie RPG. In conclusion, the main problem for me personally is the personality of the author. Everyone criticizes Yanderedev for his bad code, fetishes and deception of donors, while they praise a similar weeb. This feels like a parade of hypocrisy to me, because one became lolcow, and other - don't, because he has slightly better marketing and publicity. P.S. You may think that I'm overhateing the game, but no. I went through it with different endings, unlike some of the normies who got the yellow ending and went to praise the game that they will never play again. For furries, it's just an excuse for fetishes comparable to FNAF.
