Syphon Filter, one of the better games for the Playstation Console, also had an amazing soundtrack. Composed the mastermind Chuck Doud, prepare your ears for a musical ride.

I work out of the country, and everytime I get home ( 2 or 3 times a year) I do a SF 1, 2 and 3 marathon and smoke weed for like a week straight. Ive played these games since I was a kid, 34 now, and will probably play them til the day I die. They are simply so nostalgic and comforting, so when I get back to the US after months gone, nothing makes me feel more at home like playing the SF series for a week straight. Best game series every for me. And the music is just masterpieces on every level

this needs a reboot. one of the best games I've ever played for the PS1, only hindered by some choppy controls, which not be an issue today. I wonder who holds the rights to this franchise?

Sony do as 989 was a division of sony entertainment waayyyyy back then. I'm not 100% sure if it's still around but last I heard 989 studios was a sports division instead. The last Syphon Filter I remember being created was one for the PSP which might I add I loved...But it tanked hard.. I was hunting down information for this many moons back, fans of the series are screaming for a reboot but for some reason Sony just can't see it. Maybe a petition would get things going but who knows. There was meant to be a new Syphon Filter launched or yah know 'predicted' to launch alongside God of War: Ascension. I think the hardest part of this is - How to bring it up to snuff. I think if Sony just collab Syphon Filter 1 & 2 expand on stories improve the mechanics add a better cover/shooting system so people can't complain this game would be a damn hit! How many games have you played where in the same level you defuse bombs, sort out a hostage situation at a basketball court, sabotage some satellite comms & fight a french man wielding a flame thrower in one level!? Or sneak through a museum to then have a shoot out around huge dinosaur replicas? Or that cathedral level? This game was the pinnacle of level design and story, how it turned in to a ghostly figure of it's former self is beyond me. I blame Splinter Cell.

Mondo Ex Honestly I never played Splinter Cell, however it's interesting to compare the two when Splinter Cell is more covert ops based and Syphon Filter takes a more military approach to situations. And honestly I think it's just people never got to see the potential this series had, much like the game Project snowblind, which I loved the crap outta that game as well. It was all about putting real world scenarios in a pseudo futuristic world, and it did quite good at it. or how about the eventual downfall of the WW shooters genre. Brother in Arms Medal of Honor Both series garnering different attention to detail, world and character building, as well as approach to the WW scenarios they encompassed. But that's just what happens when a new generation comes into play. And it honestly sucks, because there are a lot of great older titles that people hardly even know about anymore.

ultris07 Project Snowblind! I picked that up on a whim one day back in the PS2 era loved it! I really miss Medal of Honor and Brothers in Arms too :/ Gaming has gone to shit man :(

Mondo Ex I blame the younger kids always wanting more serious games than back in the day. I may only be 21, but damn I grew up with a lot of old classics, that most kids won't even know of today.

I genuinely believe it's been shadowed because of the "government conspiracy" part about the game. Might rub the wrong people if ya know what I mean. Better put out mindless games and get cash than to ignite any kind of critical thinking. Just my personal opinion. I mean the motto for the commercial was "It stays with you". Think about that...

I replay the series right now, I still think that games merit more credits, ok it's not the quality of some other games like that but I still think it's good games, the gameplay had good ideas and at some point even with the modelisation of the characters and all the animations was not that bad. And well, I have always like the soundtrack. :D I just regret they finished the series on a huge cliffhanger and we will never know what happened next.
