I grew up on the Syracuse music scene. I have never been sXe nor will I ever be, but I have a lot of respect for their beliefs, as long as they don't push it on everybody. Back in the 90's and early 2000's were some of the best shows Syracuse has ever had and a lot of it had to do with the strong sXe scene. I miss the concerts, I miss the people and I honsetly miss the scene, which has seemed to slowly turn into fashion-core.

No, it's not.I give them mad respect for having those kinds of values and the discipline to stand behind them without some form of big stick ready to smack them should they fail. I could never do it. The thing I liked most was that they NEVER tried to "convert" me or looked down on me for not being like them. At least I know Ian and Eric and Karl felt that way and were wise enough to understand we each have our own path to follow. Best of luck to you on yours, Sir.

I hold high respect for all those SXE folk, who went against the mindless mainstream and so called subcultures duplicating consumerism in other form. It's easy to change your haircut and clothes and pretend to be alternative but to radically change habits that's another story.

I will admit, I used to use drugs and alcohol heavily. It really did hurt my life. I am one of the lucky ones to not be dead or in prison like a lot of people I know. I wish I would have gone straight edge as a teen. So, more power to them.

To the best of my knowledge, none of them are making a living off their record sales-back then it was because of shady label accounting, and nowadays ... well, nobody actually buys records anymore. I think bands only profit from merch in the modern era.

same here man i went a jesuit HS in NYC and i was the only edge kid in my school and a lot of ppl made fun of me for it. A couple ppl respected my choice but no one decided to claim. Im a freshmen in college now and i still havent found another edge kid. it sux but you gotta stick with it cuz its who you are and you cant change it. Stay true Stay Posi ,bro

@Guav best friends include one who´s straight edge, who s recently become vegan, one who was vegan-straight edge, then i introduced him to mind expansing/psychedelic substances (hes very grateful for that) and one vegetarian, who loves beer. i can tell you from personal experience, most of the kids in the atlanta scene that were SxE in the 90's aren't SxE anymore. i remember going to the shows with them not being SxE and getting shit for it. lol. now, i get shit for still not fitting in with my friends because i don't drink. go figure.

well...record sales and touring and merch and all that stuff. i know they are doing BETTER. maybe not enough to quit the day job i suppose. they have stayed busy at least and do better than most from the cuse. i admire ANY band that stays busy and gigs for nearly 15 years. that in itself speaks volumes about them. its never been about the money with those guys. i was never really into hardcore but i would go see them once in a while. and there were those couple times at hellfest...

As far as heroin goes, it's irrelevant whether or not pure heroin itself is toxic to the body-the cutting agents frequently are. There is evidence that perhaps as many as half of "heroin ODs" are really the result of the quinine, chloroquine, or phenolphthalein it is often mixed with. The bottom line-and the point-is that shooting heroin is inherently dangerous.

Some of them are pro-life, and some of them are pro-choice. Some are left wing, a couple might be right wing. Most are straight, one is gay. None of them are close minded assholes-at least no more close minded than you are, with your loaded questions and presumptions.
