16:20 they’re not wrong external interference makes wars costlier. If Ukraine was rolled over because the west didn’t support Ukraine there would be a magnitude less death. Of course it doesn’t mean that it’d be right to do so, as long as the citizens of Ukraine want to fight, sending weapons to them is not immoral on the part of the west.

Deterrence already died somewhat in my view. Back when Reagan was in the US he made a big argument about ignoring the nuclear threats from russia because if you give in every time someone threatens with nukes then you've already lost. Though that argument has been entirely lost on his former party. More recently weve seen Ukraine actually make attacks into Russia and hold land for a time in a major nuclear power without repercussion. Essentially so far its been proven that a non nuclear power can get away atleast to a degree with attacking a nuclear power even with threats of use which suggests that nuclear powers may be at the point where limited conflicts with a sort of unspoken rule to claim nuclear strikes but not act unless one side takes the advantage may be on the table in the future. Tldr if Deterrence is dead you could see major powers fighting directly in proxy conflicts and gesturing at nukes without using them until the enemy power gets too close or takes too much an advantage.

22:40 adjusting for hidden factors and undisclosed spending, China spends about 1.8 to 2% of gdp on the military, rather than going based off their official figures of about 1.2-1.4%

Yeah you're totally right about the United States and China and we made a deal with them back in the day we'd make their country rich if they made our products cheaper and that worked out for a while but when it changed was when they wanted to become a military power and not just an economic power The United States will not stand for any country to grow anywhere near its power and military and now you're seeing the decoupling of American money from China because they're using that money for military. China exports goods that were manufactured United States exports security or protection China is messing with the United States's export of security
