Isn't the T word now just something you slap onto any non government militia you don't like ? The US keeps changing their minds on what to call a lot of these groups depending on their allegiances at the time. Right now these groups are not called the T word by the US or the US media. They're just called rebels because they're fighting the Assad regime. But if they start fighting the Kurds (US allies) they'll be labelled the T word again.

I’m very reminded by Ukraine’s fall 2022 “Kharkiv Offensive” which was also done with the exact same tactics. It’s kind of the modern equivalent of “Blitzkrieg” and relies on speedy attacks with trucks and drones. Excellent report, Weeb. However two corrections are in order, I believe. Firstly the Manbij bulge (yellow area west of the Euphrates) has been under government control since several years ago, when it was ceded by the NSF in order to avoid Turkish takeover. Secondly calling the fascist forces under Turkish control "rebels" is unwarranted, more so when most of them are not Syrian even but imports from various geographies, notably Central Asia as of late (Turkey is doing not just conquest by proxy, or sometimes directly, but demographic engineering as well, true genocides). Anyway, this reminds somewhat to the ISIS takeover of 2014, also sponsored by Turkey (but also the USA, etc.) Same pattern of sudden outburst and even probably same pick up trucks, the mastermind is the same surely, just 10 years older.

The Syrian Civil War was always going to restart because the rebels in Idlib were never fully destroyed, since Turkey decided to keep them around as a buffer and pressured Russia and Assad into accepting the previous status quo. The Kurds and SDF could probably have been handled by an eventual power-sharing/autonomy agreement with Damascus but the Islamists in Idlib never could. But I doubt the possibility of Syria collapsing like Afghanistan or Assad falling from power within a fortnight. The main reason being that for better or worse Syria's minorities back Assad and will fight to keep the Central Government that guarantees their rights and continued existence as they fear domination by Sunni Arab Islamists who will either displace or attempt to forcibly assimilate them. Additionally, though Hezbollah is weakened, Iran, particularly the IRGC, still has troops and weapons to support Assad with. The Russian VKS has planes and pilots to spare, though Russia doesn't have SOF it can deploy without scaling back operations in Ukraine which it is not willing to do. Assad still has strength to fight with, and if he can convince the Iranians and Russians to back him, he'll have the forces and firepower to retake Aleppo, which is in itself tragic as the people of that city have only just begun to put the pieces of their lives back together after the grueling battle there less than a decade ago.

We can't know for sure, what we can know is that anything reaching Idlib or any of the other fascist pockets sponsored by Erdogan in Northern Syria has to necessarily go through Turkey. Erdogan has been mostly cooperating with USA and Israel, especially in Syria, since 2011 (except for the year 2016 of the anti-ISIS coalition and the Turkish putsch and counter-putsch), so almost certainly this is not just Erdogan's idea only.
