There are no reasons for China to live like America where the people are dying from its democracy. There is no need for China to have homeless people living on the streets in Beijing, Shanghai, Canton, Shenzhen and other major cities. Thank you for sharing this. In a way it is a valuable historical document because it crystalizes two points of view, one backward looking, one forward looking. On one side you have the US unable to look to the future because they still were baffled by China somehow beating them at their own game, nearly 20 years after they were allowed to join the WTO. On the other you have China looking to a co-operative role in the future of the world. The fact that Cheney had to rely on notes and someone else's thoughts and the diplomat could speak eloquently (and sharply on point) without, spoke volumes.
