Bernhard, what bag do you have for transportation of slider and the extension? For the slider itself there is a bag directly from Syrp, but what about extension?
@BernardLau1991 Жыл бұрын
Hi Anatoliy, good question. Syrp has their own brand bag but I saw it and I was not impressed so I didn't buy it. For me, I am using the tripod bag from my tripod, specifically, the Ifootage TC6s. it fits perfect but any other tripod bag would work too. The beauty of Syrp's extension tube is that it is so low profile (when disassembled) so it fits it the same tripod bag. But do take note that with this bag, I am unable to fit the motorized components in. The motorized components are like a lens so they go into my camera bag. With the quick release plates I use, set up is a breeze so I am fine storing them separately. Hope this answer helps!

@@BernardLau1991 if we put slider and extension tubes in the same bag then unavoidably we will get scratches on the surface. This is not what we are looking for.
@BernardLau1991 Жыл бұрын
@@babiychuk You know when you purchased the slider it came along with this black cloth like packaging? I put the extension tubes in that then in the bag. So far, I don't really see scratches, but then again, I'm not particular about such stuff and don't look out for them. My gear probably has a lot of user marks. But that is a problem with many solutions. Separate bag, divider, or bubble wrap etc.

Thank you Bernard. Can the pan tilt unit be controlled live and have graceful movements. Following an actor's movements manually etc.
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting question. Never really thought about it or used it for that reason. Personally, I would rather use a fluidhead. I think you will get better and more precise movement. In my little experience moving it with the joystick, it is smooth, but not the best for tracking. Maybe panning or tilting for b-roll is fine. But tbh I don't use this feature much and I won't wanna comment too much on it.

Hello Bernard, I have a question about the 3 plates of the slider that are used for mounting on tripods - plates that hold the tubes. Do these plates wobble a bit or are they wobble-free? I've tightened the screws, but that doesn't really help. I bought the Magic Carpet Carbon Sliders new.
@BernardLau1991 Жыл бұрын
Hi Anatoliy, the three plates at the bottom of the slider yeah? In my experience they don't wobble. If they are new, maybe get them changed or something.

Thank you, Bernard for the comprehensive review! I’m contemplating adding the Pan/Tilt unit to my Genie II Linear now that it is on sale. However, I’m apprehensive due to Syrp’s being absorbed by Manfrotto’s parent company. Do you have any thoughts on how the Syrp products will be supported in the foreseeable future?
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
Hi G Wins, thanks for the support to this channel. :) If the item is on sale and you will make full use of the product, I think you should go for it!
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
I do not have any info on the support, I just know that unfortunately, they won't be adding a focus module to this system, which sucks to me. (I wrote in and asked them). But I don't see how Syrp being absorbed by Vitec is going to be a problem?

@@BernardLau1991 I'm in the middle of the same debate. Did you come up with any other information? Part of me thinks it could be a good thing because they can't afford to drop the ball now with bigger names tied to them but at the same time the press releases make it sound like they are chasing money. I really don'y know what to do...
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
@@jiggyb21 I think that if you want to buy the product, you have to buy it knowing you will be entirely pleased with this system. Don't expect any new products or software updates. (Although the software is fine the way it is which is probably why there are no updates.)

how is the sound on motor when doing the moves? Just purchased one and want to see how sound is for interview segments..
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
You can hear the motors moving when you're next to it but it is acceptable to me and won't be picked up by a proper interview mic. :)

hey Bernard, I am also in Singapore, and considering buying the set from Cathay. I have a quick question hoping to get your advice: upon buying the magic carpet and the genie linear, to mount on top of them, what is the dfference between the Genie Mini II Pan Tilt Set vs the Genie II Pan Tilt head (that you have in your video). Genie Mini II Pan Tilt Set is only SGD 854 vs Pan Tilt Head being SGD 2399 at Cathay.
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
Hey Connor, so the genie mini ii pan tilt set is basically 2 pan modules that you can use an additional arm to combine them into a “pan tilt” module. Benefit of this is you can buy 1 at a time instead of committing to everything at one go. Another benefit is that if you want to go out with only a 2 axis module, you can and it’s smaller profile. With the pan tilt head I have, whether or not I want the third axis im stuck with it. And it is rather bulky. But that said, when you put the pan tilt set together, it is even bigger and bulkier. So personally I think the one I have is better. Hope this helps
@connorsu2 жыл бұрын
@@BernardLau1991 hey Bernard, thanks for the advice - I quite like the pan tilt head that you have - I am just debating whether to spend that much more over the pan tilt set of (2 modules). I am shooting mostly inside my studio, so I don’t mind the bulk.
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
@@connorsu my advice would be, if you don’t think you will shoot 3 axis much, get the linear and pan would be sufficient. Tbh I only use the 3rd axis like 10-20% of the time. Most of the time I do either liner movement of linear and pan. But if you think you’re going to want to use the tilt, go for the one I have. I personally would do that. And on a side note, I shoot with the slider without the motorized components very frequently and I love it.

Hey Bernard, do you find that the pan tilt head is noisy?
@BernardLau19912 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, yes unfortunately I do find the motors slightly noisy. But that said, it was never at a volume that affected my audio for interviews, if that is what you're planning to use it for. And for other use cases, it doesn't really matter apart from it being slightly annoying. Hope this helps!

I’ve watched tons of videos on KZbin and still cannot figure out if I can manually move the pan/tilt how I want in real time or I have to program it to run a specific time.
