Nice one, Tom. That looks very handy being able to fold the buggy up like that although if I'm reading the specs right, it's still pretty weighty at 28kg. Cheers - John.
@RedSkyHorizon2 жыл бұрын
Hey John! I ordered mine with the XXL Midi's, so it weighs a little more at 36Kg or thereabouts. I believe they come as light as 26Kg if you go for their three-spoke wheels. Okay, not super lightweight as a Parastorm Typhoon but the whole thing does break down into a large sports bag, even the rear axle, ideal for the airlines. So I look forward to someday flying Qantas direct to Kingston. :)

Beautiful machine! What was the wind speed? Mph? Kilometers?
@RedSkyHorizon4 ай бұрын
I'd say the wind speed was somewhere between 28 and 32 mph. It doesn't take too much to get up to 60 mph in the buggy but it takes me much more wind to go beyond that as space is limited. She is a nice machine for sure. :)

I love your videos Tom! And I've enjoyed all your content on PKF! I have the opportunity to get an S3 buggy and I'm having a hard time deciding between it and a Libre VMAX. I don't care about the option to fold the buggy. I think it's cool but not something I will probably use much. Do you feel like the buggy is unstable or anything because of the foldability?
@RedSkyHorizon5 ай бұрын
Thanks, Jesse! Good to see PKF back on air once more. This video is intended to demonstrate a buggy that sounds compromised, is in fact, just as capable as any large race buggy. The S3 is solid, ( 01:10 power sliding at 60mph ). It rides totally flat through the slide without a hint of lifting. You can really throw it about. That was the most surprising thing. I had owned a Libre Supertruck II for 10 years and while it was a fine buggy, the frame did creak and groan, and its frame twist under similar forces. Sixty mph in the S3 feels like 45mph. In the Vmax, I suspect 60mph would feel like 80 mph haha. All the fittings including the gauge of steel are noticeably weaker in the Libre. The S3 is made from chunky billet aluminium with nice large rounded diameter side rails, The S3 is bomb-proof, but it's not without its faults. The aluminium is soft in comparison, so it marks easily. The squared-off forks are a bit of a design flaw IMO. They should have rounded the forks as the square design has sharp edges that could potentially cut your lines if they come into contact. Also, I can't say I like the S3 seat all that much. It's not particularly deep. I can never get it fitted correctly, which means I'm sitting on it rather than in it. While this helps keep the centre of gravity low, the Vmax would probably win on seat comfort here. My S3 was solely intended to be carried aboard an airliner, and that's what you're paying for. A great looking premium buggy that packs down into a single bag, and for that purpose it is perfectly suited. I suspect I've made your decision harder, not easier. ibb.co/qB6sVKg

@@RedSkyHorizon thank you for the reply Tom! You have answered all my questions. Yes I am glad PKF is back although I am not able to log on there anymore for my phone or my laptop I don't know what's going on. I had an opportunity to get an S3 but the guy was acting a bit flaky so I passed on it. I also think I'm going to hold out and get something with bigfoot's since I am usually riding on the beach. I contacted the manufacturer and they don't have parts available for the S3, supposedly they haven't since COVID. And no manufacturer to make parts for them. The one I was looking at had middies on it And I'm still kind of wanting it but thank you for the info. You are definitely being helpful!

Nice video and buggy!!! 👍 How did you record the shot from 1:00 to 1:30? where is the camera located? thanks!!
@RedSkyHorizon2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The camera was located on the end of a mop handle and the other end to the buggy. Not very sophisticated but it works. The 360 camera hides the handle. It's not fun to ride with the handle sticking way out and you have to be careful not to get your lines caught up. example - ibb.co/f4sN6Zc ibb.co/k96RFdk

Thanks Brian. The kite is an 8m Genetrix Hydra. I don't remember exactly the wind speed as some of the footage was shot late last summer and some earlier this year, but I'd estimate it to be somewhere between 28mph and 33mph / bf6.5 and gusty.
