Why notification service would update the order status? It shouldn't be aware ideally how orders are getting handled otherwise we're not distributing responsibilities properly.. I guess what you thought at first - to send an event from notification service... that would have been better.. so order service will consume that event and update the table.. Please correct me if I missed something..

Thank you very much. This is really helpful. How do you think they had implemented the ride request timeout feature? i.e when the ride request is sent to the driver normally the drive has a window of 1 minute to accept the request otherwise the request will be sent to the next drive in the queue.
