System Design: What is Horizontal vs Vertical Scaling?

OMG THANK YOU SM!! I kept pondering why people try to avoid vertical scaling but NOW i know. the cost per unit for the hardware that you are gonna upgrade is much much more than spinning up new instances which have less powerful hardware but there are many of these instances that can distribute the load from users.

Hey Jesse, thanks for the comment. I'm using a tool called 'EpicPen' to draw on my screen. Its free any easy to use. Keep in mind I do use a drawing tablet to draw on the screen - the tool may be hard to use with just your mouse. Hope this helps! Daniel
