RB4 pro drums actually aren't that far off at all. Obviously the guitar and bass are nothing like bass and guitar in real life, but the microphone and drums are actually actions that you could do in real life if you have it set up just like your Rock Band and play the song very similarly. The only difference is the lack of a couple drum pieces (but still playable) and a hat pedal... If you learn it on RB it definitely transfers over and vice versa (but it only really applies if the set-up is the same, and if you use the pro drums on expert).

rb/ch pro drums are pretty much identical to playing an actual electric drum kit. In fact, a lot of pro drums players use real drum kits as their controllers. That's why you never see "Why don't you play a real drumset" comments like you would on gh vids; it _is_ a real drumset.

Well its a rock song...rock drummers make the basics look hard and jazz/reggae make the hard look easy. Ive been drumming for 18yrs I started off with rock and believe me its the easiest style of drumming especially songs like this.

thanks for your videos! good timing for me to reveal this channel, because i dreamed of real electronic drumset for more than 5 years, and finally i bought it a month ago (yamaha dtx400k) - now i need to practice hard parts, and your movements inspire me to sit and learn again and again 0:23 - 0:37 is a crazy part for me - more than 1 hour of training for today, starting from 70% speed, and finally i can make it almost without any mistakes up to 85-90% speed. PS all your videos looks perfectly synchronized - and im suffering from minor calibration problems on Phase Shift +it's have smaller hit windows than any other similar games :(

Drummer here. Since I didn’t have a drumset when I was a kid, I had to find an alternative, and that was rockband. It definitely is a great learning tool for rythm, basic beats, flow, etc. but it’s very rock heavy and lacks rudiments. Is it the most proficient? Maybe not for technicality, but it’s a great tool.

Theres 4 colors and a kick indicator. 5 indicators of what to do. But you have 8 pieces to hit! How do you know to hit any of the extra 3 pieces?

The shape of the note that is coming down tells you what to hit. The round dome shapes are the high hat and cymbals, the rectangles are the snare and toms.

RB4's just a better game. I'm just playing, I like both but I prefer to play charts in the game they were made for. So I like to use CH for customs, and official charts in RB4. Although for customs I've been using YARG more and more often.

YARG's pretty sick, can't recommend it enough. I don't use this kit anymore, but there was nothing special about my setup. Nowadays I use a KD-9 kickpad with a basic double pedal, but if you check around KZbin you'll find folks with way more knowledge than me offering advice on pedals.
