LYRICS: Conversion, software version 7.0 Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub Eating seeds as a pastime activity The toxicity of our city, our city You, what do you own the world? How do you own disorder? Disorder Now somewhere between the sacred silence Sacred silence and sleep Somewhere, between the sacred silence and sleep Disorder, disorder, disorder. More wood for their fires, loud neighbors Flashlight reveries caught in the headlights of a truck Eating seeds as a pastime activity The toxicity of our city, of our city You, what do you own the world? How do you own disorder? Disorder Now somewhere between the sacred silence Sacred silence and sleep Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep Disorder, disorder, disorder. You, what do you own the world? How do you own disorder? What a lot of people miss about Serj's singing is his incorporation of traditional Armenian melodies. I grew up singing in the Orthodox church, and you can tell he borrows heavily from Orthodox choirs. Listen to Arials and then follow up with a Greek Orthodox cantor. I have always loved this about his singing.

The idea behind this video is so subtle I almost missed it, but it ties into the album cover for Toxicity... the video opens showing the Hollywood Walk of Fame, listing our so-called "stars", then at the end the camera zooms out to show all the literal stars in the Milky Way. It shows how small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things, and how really we are all in this together. This idea ties into the lyrics of 'Aerials', the last track on the album. You were my husband's cherished band. Group? Entity. Aric was a devoted metalhead. He introduced me to many groups. But you, you were the one he'd return to. A musical home. Metal music to me was foreign. Not my love. He knew the finesse within the roar. He knew how much excellent music was happening within the genre. I didn't. I thought metal I thought screaming. Cacophony I wanted nothing to do with. He changed my perception, attitude, appreciation. He changed more than that but that's a different post for a different time. My beloved died six and a half years ago and there are still some of your songs I can not bear to listen to. I just wanted to say how much Aric loved you, and how appreciative I am that he found you. That you made, and make, the amazing music I came to know as SOAD.
