I am amazed on how there are a million different people showing you how to make backup discs but try and find one that shows you how to reinstall the info and you wont find any. I guess these smarts guys forgot that.

You can also use usb drives..... At least on mac osx. I've made one before and it's very useful and takes up less space than a CD.

It's highly recommended to never shut down your computer using your physical power button. It can wreck your drivers and cause massive issues with the computer. That's actually why i'm watching this video now! It IS however recommended that whenever you need to hard shut down, unplug the AC adapter and take out the battery. The components inside the computer know what to do when they lose power, but when it is forced to shut down, it will corrupt drivers and such. :(

this helps if got hp can have one copy of them if have someone with exact same brand an model pc there disks will work on yours to but if hp it will mean you wont get to create another set on your pc though after it redoes every thing with their cds

You should keep searching in BIOS. Maybe look up your version of BIOS and see if DVD/CD is supported. You should call Toshiba Support or use their forums.

That would be the shipping cost. If you registered your computer when you purchased it, you are not always charged for the recovery disks themselves by providing the product and serial number of your equipment because there will be a record of your purchase and your personal information on file. It is sent to you as a courtesy for replacement of a product you already purchased.

My problem is I have two different popups in new tabs once in a while all day since i loaded something on the 7th of Nov. and there are two programs i had tried and tried to uninstall and it just doesn't. If you are paying $150 for any system installation software, then you are no computer guy of mine. Every decent PC operating system out there is readily available for free on the internet in the form of a disk image. I bet that if I wanted Windows NT on my Windows machine, I could have it done by tonight. Hell, even Microsoft gives their OS away now via their online media creation tool. On top of that, operating systems are so easy just to collect anymore. I remember the days when you'd have to sacrifice a flash drive or dvd RW in order to build a bootable media with. Not anymore. I have a single 128 gig flash drive that contains 11 different Linux distros on top of Windows 10 and 2 for Mac (Sierra and Snow Leopard.) Honestly, I would argue that backup disks are useless in 2020, at least for Windows users. Now that OneDrive automatically backs files up to the (whether you like it or not) you have no reason to back them up on disk.

The restore process is not so simple, at least not on my Samsung laptop. I need to find the system image backup and cannot find it on the recovery disk. Nor can I find the driver among the hundreds of files on the recovery cd.

+estoncita If they are running the same operating system, yes. There is a COA sticker and product key on the back of your laptop that will tell you what version and generation you have. As long as its the same version AND generation, it will work.

If your PC can't read your disk, you need a disk writer. Before commenting anything, make sure your your comment is written to neat standard.

I found the restore disc for my computer from 2002 and restored it to that disc but lo and behold it was running some major out of date software and xp (no service packs) It spent a good 9 hours on windows update during which time a virus just showed up and rendered the computer useless pretty much and no av programs work in < sp2 so at this point is it just better to reinstall using an up to date xp sp3 disc? All I lose is crappy cd burning software from 2002 and other useless things

Can I ask a really dumb question? I have a Toshiba laptop and hence found the Toshiba folder in the Windows 7 star menu. Like you said, there is an option called TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator. However, there is also an option in the Control Panel; Create a repair disk. Should I use the windows one or the Toshiba one? Is there a difference?

Debby Kay The screen not working is probably a hardware issue. If your laptop has an HDMI or VGA port, try hooking it up to a television or external monitor.

After that I note that the recovery disc was deleted so I went back and they told me that the recovery disc was corrupted so they could intall it again.
