Xolectic SHODAN does not take any damage from the wrench. The only melee weapon that works on her is the laser rapier. And the ending cutscene is pre-rendered, so he always uses the pistol.

If you have EMP ammo for your grenade launcher you can disable her forcefield without needing to hack the panels and 2 shot her.When I first fought this boss and did that I was like ''it cant be this easy'' and thougt my game glitched and gave me the ending too early.

Mr .357 System Shock 2 is legitimitly my favorite game ever made, but after Thief 2014, I think that proves that some things should just be just left to stay the way they are. Sure, the ending isn't really satisfying, but EA holds the rights to System Shock. They'll probably make the squeal a Free to Play with you having to pay $100 for 4 cyber modules.

I know the ending is a big joke because they ran out of time and it's become a classic meme. But damn, it really kind of destroys the entire build up until that moment. It's pretty awful actually, especially when they did such an excellent job with SHODAN. Even the "death" cutscene is lame. The very end ambiguous cutscene at least restores some of the vibe that made it all good.
