Korenchkin's logs and transformation are [IMO] the creepiest in the game. The fight with him seems anti-climactic.
@tacticability5214 жыл бұрын
Well, you are a cyborg supersoldier. Korenchkin had only really killed unarmed civilians and the occasional armed guard up until that point.
@GreyWolfLeaderTW4 жыл бұрын
That was, in a way, kind of the point. Korenchkin was never a strong man, starting as a petty thief and working his way up the ranks of the Russian mob before finally acquiring enough wealth and corporate power to seize the nearly bankrupt Trioptimum and revitalize the company. He was always weak-willed and had no personal discipline. In the end, because of this, he became a pawn of the Many, without comprehending that as a member of a collective organism, his individual life means no more to the Many's biomass than a solider ant's does to the ant colony. And so he died as pawns do, as a disposable hurdle thrown by the Many at the player character.

@holden61043 жыл бұрын
@@GreyWolfLeaderTW I agree with this. Much more realistic this way. Modern game design philosophies would have turned him into an overly dramatic boss fight. This way is much creepier in how you realize that Korenchkin's just another cog in the wheel, to be tossed aside at a whim by the Many.

I really wish Ken Levine remakes this game with the ending he had in mind. Clearly, this was built up to be more of an ideological ending with more than one path, but the industry cut it short. A shame, really.

@ULTIMADONUT8 жыл бұрын
+Farbror Nisse does that have to do with the ending we're given? I was wondering why it just ended on a cliffhanger.
@nis5e8 жыл бұрын
Well it ended on a cliffhanger because the publishers, the people who held in the money, cut the production short. I believe there's an interview with Ken Levine where he directly states that he wanted more time with SS2. And when i mean more ending paths i naturally mean that maybe you would have been able to talk your way into victory, rather than having to fight/hack through the last boss.
@ULTIMADONUT8 жыл бұрын
Farbror Nisse Well shit, here's hoping that night dive does SS some justice, i'd love a shock where you can work for The Many. It'd be somewhat stealth until The Many's influence aboard the ship became big enough to take over, then it's a full scale war.

Sometimes Hybrids warn about their attacks and beg desperately to be killed. It's not that nice at all. Many were created by SHODAN, but are her complete opposite. She is only focused on herself in her megalomania, while Many are about hive mind collective of all, she is an AI, while they are flesh. At least Many are actually kind of a good sport when they finally lose, warning the hero about SHODAN not going to uphold her end of the deal.

Well, not exactly. He was a Russian mobster. Russian mobsters are kelptocrats (a fancy word meaning "Thief-Ruler", or "someone who uses and abuses governmental power, particularly through corruption, quid pro quo, and money laundering, in order to steal from other people and enrich himself"). Adam Smith, the philosopher responsible for codifying Capitalism, was actually primarily a Christian and Moral Ethicist in occupation. His earlier book, "Theory of Moral Sentiments", laid out the moral foundation for Capitalism to function through. One of the key defining traits of Capitalism is "no stealing or abusing government power allowed". The moment corruption gets involved, you're dealing with kleptocratic state socialism.
