This was my FAVORITE game. Back in a time where you had to configure you memory just to have enough RAM to be able to play it. The original music was creepy, but Shodan has to be one of the greatest characters in video games. This was also the first video game that I played where you could navigate in an open space (garden pods) instead of Wolfenstein type maze crawl. Felt so expansive at the time. I was absolutely blown away. Coming from pong and Atari 2600, this was absolutely amazing. I'm replaying the original just to get ready for this. SO HYPED!!!!

I remember System Shock 2. It had the same engine as the (amazing) Thief games. Let's just say, they weren't amazing because of the graphics, even at the time. But it controlled a bit more like a "normal" FPS. And it wasn't Dos anymore. There are perfectly working GOG versions of Thief1&2 and SS2. Then came the legend that is Deus Ex, a more streamlined gameplay variation of System Shock 2, with a much less complex complex character/skill system (SS2 was more complex there than most RPG) But still many ways to move forward (or sideways) than just FPS combat. Bioshock...bit of a stretch already. You can choose your combat style in Bioshock, but combat it is. That's very different to Deus Ex.

Great, that you took this on :) I'm also in the fanbase of System Shock (I'm even the proud reverse engineering developer of the level editor of the original game.) As for the original: I understand why you chose the actual DOSboxed original and not the enhanced edition for its current stutter bug. In the original, movement was ASDX (S forward, X backward). Too bad though you didn't get into comparing the audio logs. In the original, the employees of the developer company recorded them, compared to "professional" recording now. I'd be excited for more on this here :)

I know what you mean, with sponsored content now, but I feel it's kinda taking a dump on all the preparation, editing, acting etc that they put in the videos on the main channel, when people say things like this. No offence, I know you just said profitable, but others have said it was better and more enjoyable.

@@NonZenze I'll tell ya that anything we have done for the Dumpster has been done in extra time after we finish recording stuff for the main channel so this stuff has just been a bonus and not taken away form anything we would normally do. If anything it might make the guys more relaxed in main stuff because we get to have some extra fun who knows lol

@@AnthonyCSN I solely talked about the mild disrespect I find in comments that, maybe unknowingly, talks negatively about the main channel, by saying it's the same standard of content, in my eyes kinda neglecting the amount of work you guys put in the main channel. What you said has nothing to do with that. I'm aware of everything you said, but that takes nothing away from what I said. And if there's any confusion here, I welcome and enjoy The Dumpster for what it's meant.

Not gonna lie, although cool to see this channel generate income as well, I thought the whole purpose of the dumpster was for low-effort content that wasn't suited to the main channel due to lack of editing, retakes, etc. But this video and a couple of the previous ones have had a lot of editing in them (eg, Elden Ring Co-Op). So I hope the main idea of long-form content with minimal work done on it won't disappear on this channel to make room for monetization

Aztecia has been spearheading this channel and a lot of the more edited stuff has been her wanting to learn. It's still pretty minimal compared to the main channel and she has said she doesn't want to go nuts with it, but anything extra over here isn't taking time away from the main channel!
