I think the horn is 75 decibels loud while others are 85 decibels loud or louder.

It's just old. Back when it was made around 20 years ago, it probably worked fine, but ion detectors don't age well.

Why do you have to hide the installer code? It's not like anyone would want to break into your house, and trigger your fire alarm system.

My thoughts exactly. It's something not worth hiding from the public since it's in a private place.

GrnArrow092 Justin Fay I hide the default installer codes because I don't want kids to learn it and go screw around with a system in a public building. It's happened before. Another reason is that Simplex's default codes are technically "trade secrets". They can easily be found in the manual, but I know of one person who was issued a cease and desist letter for showing information like that in a video. It's just easier to play it safe.
