You should check the runout on that crank . That is a huge power killer. Anything over 5 thou really will take a toll. This has been an issue with Arctic cat sleds for years.. Even on new sleds but if you have blown a belt etc it can sometimes take a bad hit. I have all my cranks balanced and welded.
@tegowner3 жыл бұрын
I just bought a '14 m8000 and I try to understand what you mean. The crank may have too much radial play from the end where the clutch is? Is it a common problem? And what do you weld exactly...you oversize the crank and fit thinner bearings? I'm new to this wonderfull sport. Thank you
@syxxes3 жыл бұрын
You'd have to send it to a machine shop to get it welded, it'd be a specialty thing.
@tegowner3 жыл бұрын
@@syxxes I'm not intending to do it myself :-P I'm trying to figure out the weakness and to understand what how sandych33ks1 fixed it/if it can be fixed for good. If you rebuild the crank to oem specs, is will still fail :-( I thought those suzuki engines were almost bulletproof (for a 2 stroke perspective) Thank you for your input Syxxes.
@sandych33ks13 жыл бұрын
@@syxxes If you do some research you might be surprised how many do it. It makes a big difference. Those Cat cranks get taken out easy sometimes with a badly blow belt. I had a new factory sled F1000 out of the box out 11 though. It was a pig. I could of warrantied it but I had it balanced n welded. It was night n day. The Ac f7 in the day were the same . The crank run out being over 5 thou draws big power loss. I had a customer on the dyno with a f7 out 20 thou and it wouldn't make 118 hp .Cat warrantied his crank. .
