I love this song so much, It truly helps me and other people who are considered "weird" and "different" in our society. It shows us, that we don't have to conform to what society deems as "normal" and to stick to our roots, our personality, and our morals. No matter if it's our family, our significant other or people we come across in our lives trying to change us. This song helped me cope with leaving a toxic relationship, the boy was trying to mold me into his perfect, normal girl which I simply am not. i just wanted to rant a little because i have nowhere else to rant. i’m an obese black muslim hijabi woman, i’m prejudiced in all of those categories. i’ve never felt included in anything growing up. i never felt “normal”, all i wanted was to be like the skinny beautiful girls at my school, sometimes i felt like ripping my headscarf off in class and just starving myself to be like them. this caused mental health issues & disorders to form, and if you have immigrant parents you know that they aren’t easy on those topics. my mom would force me to eat until i almost threw up in the mornings before i went to school and at dinnertime, she l thought that wouldve helped my disorder & that this would mean i didn’t need a doctor or meds anymore. this made me gain over 100 pounds in 4 months, and i just lost it. i’d never felt more like an outcast than i did, and middle school wasn’t easy looking like that. this song helped me cope with middle school and i honestly love sza so much for it. without her i don’t know where i would be right now. i still don’t feel exactly “normal” and i don’t think i ever will, but sza has helped me feel less of an outcast. to all the other women struggling with issues similar to mine, just know you’ll get through it, trust me. i love u all
