I have been using Scala professionally for a decade by now, and don't need help with choosing my libraries, but still think that Scala toolkit is a very, very good idea, and maybe the best thing one could do to boost the adoption. It was a smart approach to use the notion of cognitive load! The other criteria for choosing the libs also seem very reasonable. Perhaps also worth it to explicitly mention license and amount of dependencies (and the licenses of the dependencies)? Great presentation, keep up the good work, looking forward to version 1.0 !
