There is a small change, that probably only people with modded HUD colours will notice, but the glow on the dashboard changes with the HUD colour now instead of just being orange all the time

This game is so good... idk why all the star citizen's enthusiast hates on it... I mean the way I see it, is that it is a good game to sharpen your teeth's on while the neverending story of Star citizen's development slowly crawls to release date. Same goes for all the ED fanboys hating on SC claiming one is better or going to be better then the other... As far as im concerned they're 2 games in witch I will enjoy many hours of gameplay....

Not everyone who dislikes the game is a Star Citizen fanboy. ;) I my opinion the game is really good, but not worth 50/60$. I paid 35$ for Arma and it has so much more to offer. I will take a look in a year or so again when the expansions are released.

I really want to like Elite, but at the moment it just seems like an endless trade grind to get the shiny ship on the other end of the rainbow. The game just seems barren of any content and the galaxy does not seem to be "alive" other than random wall of text news posts and occasionally watching another player crash their starship in spacedock.

***** There are tricks, that can help, rare goods are very good for getting started with your sidewinder. And for combat zones, once you're in an eagle with a few lasers you're well placed to have a lot of fun. But on the whole, just focussing on money will make the game a terrible grind.

Scott Manley But an eagle is just not nearly shiny enough. I gotta get me an imperial clipper or even the elusive anaconda before I would be content. The problem is that once I get the shiny ship that I want, I can't figure out what I would do with it at that point. I was hoping that the updates would fix things but 1.1 has been a disappointment. As you said in this video, the best thing about 1.1 is that the map route to works now. I grinded my way to a net worth of about 11 mil cr with a well equipped asp before I started to question why I was doing it. Now I'm just praying the updates will add some entertaining content.

Toryu Naminosaki And here lies one of Elite's biggest problems. Elite wants its community to "develop" its content for them without any ability for players to interact in game. Its great that Elite wants to create an environment like that, hell I love games that can pull it off (part of the reason I loved Star Wars Galaxies and think it was so much better than Star Wars The Old Republic). However, if Elite wants that to happen they need to build the social infrastructure to allow players to do it. This game doesn't have a decent chat system let alone a guild/clan system and because of its lack of a social system the player base will NEVER be able to create content like Eve.

Scott, love your videos, what software are you using allowing you to capture game audio separately from your voice over? It would be nice on my own videos to be able to go back and "dub" over bad parts, but it gets down mixed into the same audio channel, I'd have to mute all the sound and voice over that in post.

Edit: Okay, I have no idea if I replied to the correct person or not, too tired. Forgive me :D If you're recording audio alongside your video capture (i.e. Fraps' integrated "Record Win7 sound"), you can use the video capture software to capture the game audio- and then use a program like Audacity (It's free and widely used) to record your microphone. Once you're done recording, you can manually sync up your Audacity sound file with your voice(Once you have exported the audio of course) and video file (With game audio) with your video editor. To make syncing easier for editing, you could start your mic recording before you begin the video and the moment you press record on your video recorder- Just say "BOOP!", then line up the video with the boop noise you made and cut the part before it off the mic in the editor. Then your mic recording and video recording are both on the same page. Example: Begin recording Audacity with mic input > Begin video record + say Boop! > "Hey guys, Skyclad here" etc > Stop video recording > stop Audacity recording. Toss into editor, line up video recording with the "Boop" moment, cut the beginning of the audacity recording to that point, then go to the end of the video in the editor and cut off the frilly bit of audio recorded by Audacity till it's the same length as the game video. I'm 100% certain I made it difficult to understand (pretty terrible at explaining stuff) but I think you'll get the gist of it (: Edit2: Ah, so yeah, with an Audacity recording with your microphone there and not in through the video recorder, you can modify the voice separately without changing the game sound. Mute/unmute/lower volume and increase the volume and can be used to remove background noise and what not. Very handy. Edit3: Sorry for wall of text too o.o

I'm really curious how you decided on this? I had funded SC way before I heard about Elite, so it was easy to just stick with what i've already got. I tottally understand if you're going with Elite because it has more content, it definitely does. If you're looking for content; right now Star Citizen isn't gunna please you. But honestly I'm a lot more excited for SC than Elite because of the sheer enormous amount of people working on it, as Elite is lacking in comparison. Still! I've been watching a lot of Elite videos because I crave what star citizen cannot give me yet.

This Update almost made me cry. I play as a bounty hunter and I use preferably lasers. After the Update I only can fire about 10 to 15 seconds before my ship overheats :( That made me hammering ALT+F4 which doesn't work... I never exited ED via the task-manager - until yesterday after the update. Anyway - great video, mr. manley :)

You don't have to fight the interdiction tether, You can pull back to zero on the throttle and SUBMIT, Not only does this not damage your ship, But your frame shift drive only takes 5 seconds to recharge, Giving precious time to escape.

Like, how can you tell about an undiscovered star if it is scoopable or not just by looking at the galaxy map, i.e. Because I tried to go out to Betelgeuse and ran out of fuel because i couldnt find any stars that would give me fuel. Fuel scoops only work on main sequence stars,which means it won't work on T-Tauri stars (protostars), Brown Dwarfs, White Dwarfs, Neutron Stars, Black Holes or Post Main Sequence Red Giants.

Elite has the potential to be the greatest space game in history. Although, I feel that the travel times are a big problem even though they might be realistic. Also, the limitations in lightjumps are really annoying. The gamepace is way too slow to be fun, it feels like I am just playing a truck simulator in space. 95% of my gameplay is traveling. It would also be nice to have an offline mode, for cheats, as I don't have the time or will to spend the time necessary to get the bigger ships.

I enjoyed playing ED for around a month or so around release, but think I'll wait until they make some bigger changes, before having another go - don't want to burn out on it. In particular, as things currently stand, there isn't much difference between one place and another and they need to find ways to make different areas of the galaxy have different flavours.

I know very little about this game, but I have an idea for an unique feature (might even be there already, but I don't think so). Allow players to, if they are rich enough, buy or build these massive stations. Then they would be able to add modules, update databases and such things, while getting money by charging for docking and many other things. One would need to find a balance between charging a lot of money and his station being popular. But, perhaps, random players just can't be trusted to operate such an important part of the game ...

The usual argument against that in MMOs is that if you let players do that stuff, you'll have stations everywhere to the point where it would be silly. UO had that effect where towns were just mish mashs of player housing plodded down everywhere and making the world seem very artificial.

The devs have repeatedly said there will be no player-owned major assets or management like that. I don't know if that means absolutely no way forever, but it's nothing they've even hinted about. The closest anyone could find was some video where David Braben talked about a small "inflatable" mining pad or something but that still would only be available to the player and not permanent.

So I'm just getting started in this game, I have maybe 5 hours on it. First off I want to say I'm loving this game and Scott Manley's vids is what pushed me over the edge to go ahead and pay that steep $60.00 price (without regret), but now that I've played a bit in the actual game I feel confined into one area of space. I have only 4 cargo slots, but that seems like the only way I can make money without the slim chance of some baddy to interdict me and for me to kill him and gain a bounty reward (which I managed to do the one time it happened). So any suggestions? I thought I remembered Scott talking about taking trade goods to distant locations, but I think I'm incapable of travelling far enough with my current engines (even with frequent station stops), and combat is infeasible without an Interdicter (sorry for misspelling).

Why are you boxed in? Just go and dock and buy a little fuel. Plus, you need to look at the relative cost of goods of nearby stars. Also counting overheads like fuel cost, ammo cost, and other things.

Yeah, literally right after posting that I had ventured into a store to buy a better jump drive and that solved my main problem; so now I'm venturing out to Alpha Centauri XD. I guess I wasn't sure what to spend money on was the main issue; but now I still have only 4 slots for cargo and no way to hunt bounties down without an interdicter.

I like how they added exploration info, like who discovered something first and how much money you get for each scanned objects. Such as 0 credits for asteroid belts... Been doing exploration in an Adder, and occasionally duke it out with evil npcs who want my cargo (hint, I got no cargo space, so why bother?).. Killed an Asp with my Adder even, although I got very close to losing my ship (9%) and exploration data (350k) when the bugger went from shooting me to RAMMING me and finding it far more effective... My biggest finds were a system with earth-likes and terraformable planets for some 90k+ creds, as well as a system with two black holes.

What is this Track IR thing, what's the point of having it, and how does it work?

TrackIR is a little device you pop onto your headphones. It fires infrared light at sensors for head tracking. So if you look left irl, you look left ingame. It is just a nice little extra thing to have when playing. I use my Oculus for head tracking, though.

Scott, I think the reason everyone is Frame Shifting away from you, isn't that you smell, I think its because you're in a Cobra, they see you angling in on them at full burn and scanning their cargo bays, so they naturally follow the assumption that everyone else who plays the game is a greifer and that you're going to attack them.

I've got a Cobra MKIII rigged with a 24ly jump range and have been visiting a number of nebulae, from the California Nebula, to the Eskimo Nebula, the Spirograph Nebula and the Orion Nebula. It isn't hard to get out there with a decently equipped ship. I would highly recommend it, some of the views are magnificent.

There is a serious broken mechanic where someone in a Viper can continuously respawn and ram traders inside of a station. I'm not too keen on doing anything in game while it allows a person to do this with basic impunity. Trolls will be everywhere, its too bad that they are given free reign inside stations to ram whomever they want.

safe disengage, is best that Under 1000 LS, to drop speed down to mark 3/4..the computer will adjust... 3/4 blue mark on speed. other wise you end up going to fast and gravity wells PUSH to much.. Sell illegal, tends to be 1/2 the price. Might consider filling up with other goods, as you are running threw MANY other systems..at least pay for gas.. Emergency jump stops cause damage..

There going to be adding planetary landing, FPS pvp and PVE, hunting on planets, walking in ships and space stations, under water vehicles, building mini stations, hiring NPCs and players to run your big ship, and buying capital ships, the first huge update is coming in the first week of march

I wouldn't be so sure, my laptop runs it off an i5-3210M and the intel HD4000 integrated graphics it provides. Manages good FPS on low settings in busy space, can crank it up to medium (without AA) in solo trading play. And this on a separate monitor with various trading tools on my laptop screen.

I've heard from people that the game is optimized so well that it can run pretty decently on consumer level PCs at around medium.

Check out Star Citizen if you haven't already, its like this, tho more. Much more. Its in development, and will be released in about 2016, its the biggest crowd funded THING ever(about 70 mil so far), has no publisher, and you can play a small part of it atm, and are continuously updating it, adding new things!

a fully kitted ASP will set you back about 30-40 million, you need about 10m for a trading ASP with decent FSD and money to cover insurance and commodities to buy to fill the hold.

Can I just say that star citizen has minimal work done with the game and is hardly playable ATM. At least I can fly around, trade, and fight other players. Both are good, but in different ways.
