So great to see Gordon Murray really enjoying himself with the ultmaite supercar project 2.0. I dont konw anyone else that has the ability or chance in life to create something so special like the F1 and then decades later having the knowledge and access to all the new technologies and having a 2nd try, knowing exactly how and why you did what you did back then and then knowing what to do to make it better. You know every single compromise you had to make on the F1 and now doing anything you want to improve on it. This just cannot be as good or worse then the F1. Its actually impossible. Same designer, bigger budget, same goal for the end result yet decades later. LOVE IT and already a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Mr Murray for acheiving something so special and letting us join GMA on this journey

What an extraordinary car. Best sounding ICE in a road car that I have ever heard - at least on the interweb. Apart from all the usual plaudits that you can throw at this astonishing vehicle, I just can't get over the ride height. The car actually has 'ride height'. So often I look at beautiful sports cars, slammed to the floor and although they look great, I wince at the thoughts of them driving around on real roads. But I assume, thanks to Mr Murrays fan design, he doesn't have to fear speed bumps. His fan design seems to be the gift that just keeps giving, :) What a way to say a final goodbye to the petrol-engined sports car (I'll never have an emotional attachment to anything energised by the same thing that powers my phone). I can't wait to hear this car in person :)

In a way, I really appreciate that Gordon wanted to keep things small-scale and only produce a limited number. On the other hand, I really hope McLaren or anyone else comes up to him and goes "Hey Gordon, what if we take this masterpiece of yours and mass produce it?". From a very selfish perspective, I just want to drive this epic last note of the combustion engine at least once in my life.

@GabePlaysYT 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. Gordon wants to maintain exclusivity and a close relationship with all the owners. Its easier to do that with 100 owners instead of 10,000. Still, how many people wish they could drive an F1 and never could? the ultimate drivers car should be in as many hands as possible and I'd wish for there to be a much higher production.
@Obi-WanKannabis
@Obi-WanKannabis 2 жыл бұрын
McLaren aren't interested in it. And I doubt anyone is. The moment you mass produce it is the moment people stop buying for 3 million and then it quickly becomes unprofitable. It's sad but there is no way to make this car without it costing a fortune, and no one will pay a fortune without limited numbers.

As soon as you take one mans idea to the marketing team, all hope is lost. To enjoy the engineering you have always desired, you have to keep the engineers seperate from marketing
@filipposkoliopanos7281
@filipposkoliopanos7281 2 жыл бұрын
@@deyarkalidi1654 I think that even if McLaren offered to do it, Gordon would decline it. For all the reasons others have mentioned and one more. McLaren produced the Speedtail as a "spiritual successor" to the F1. While the Speedtail is certainly impressive, beautiful and quite fast, it is an affront to the McLaren F1 ethos. It is a heavy hybrid, with minimal driver engagement that can go fast but does not make any serious claims to handling and does not encourage the driver to really have fun with it. Furthermore, the F1 was about innovation and even though it did not directly aim at them it broke all kinds of performance records (including speed). The Speedtail features a lot of expensive tech but nothing new, nothing that comes even close to groundbreaking. And it isn't even that fast. For a McLaren car the has "speed" in its name it is considerably slower than its main rivals. The F1 was the ultimate drivers car. The Speedtail is another exclusive toy for the megarich. Obviously all supercars target the very wealthy, but some are sincerely built to also make a statement. Take a shot to become party of the history of great driving machines. The Speedtail is already forgotten. Murray has only hinted at this, but he is reported to be quite discontent that the the F1 legacy was used for marketing purposes for the Speedtail, since the only thing that it has in common with it is the three seat layout. Of course the F1 is a McLaren car so he cannot really do anything about it. Except perhaps sell his own F1. He says he did because of the insurance costs. Right. Has anyone seen his car collection?

What's nuts is the t50 was announced later and is in hands of people sooner. The amg one and Valkrie both from large manufacturers and still not being driven by anyone outside the builders. It's amazing in the day and age how a boutique builder is able to imagine mock up build test and get their car in the hands of drivers in shorter time then billion/trillion dollar companies (including one who shares engine builder with). Shows how excellent the car is more so then getting to drive it.
