The Stone Circle. T-Bag stands accused of using her powers for evil means, and is stripped of her magic by the High T. Lady herself. But a turn of events leads to the perfect opportunity to seize control once and for all - the only things she requires are the silver spoons. Needless to say, all eight are soon scattered far and wide, and a new quest begins! This episode was originally broadcast on Tuesday, 3rd January, 1989.
In a slight change to the usual formula, the series opens in the T-Bag universe, and the above scene is actually set before we get to the curiosity shop. But when we do get there, we're treated to some heart-warming dialogue between John Hasler and Kellie Bright, peppered with old-fashioned politeness and general niceness.
Yes, that Kellie Bright.
Long before the days of EastEnders, Strictly, and even The Upper Hand, Kellie was the girl-on-a-quest for two series and one Christmas special of T-Bag - and very, very good she was, too. Of course, you may also remember her from Bad Girls, Rock and Chips, Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, or as Ali G's Julie, amongst other roles.
The series opener is always a set-up episode, but that doesn't mean this isn't a lot of fun. I love the fact that the peril goes from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye as Sally is not only transported into the T. Set, but also instantly done up as if by a cross between a silent movie cad and a Bond villain. The discovery of the secret passage by leaning on the lever is a bit of a cliche, but carried off well enough, and Elizabeth Estensen has as much gravitas as ever in what would prove to be her last series. We're also treated to some flashbacks to highlights from previous years, though whether this was entirely creative or down to practicalities (i.e. the episode running short), we may never know.
Here's something: I'm pretty sure both T-Bag and T-Shirt refer to "Sally Simpkins", without Sally ever telling anyone her surname. Am I wrong? Still, speaking of surnames, perhaps the High T. Lady referring to our new heroine as being "young and Bright" is an in-joke.
Look out for the Children's ITV continuity clips at the beginning and end, presented by Mark Granger.
Many thanks to Grant for providing this recording.

From my era where I always remember coming from primary school and I watched it sometimes. The actress from Emmerdale who played Diane was great as T Bag and also a very young Linda Carter from EastEnders was a great child actress.

I was born in 1981 and have the most vague memories of watching this. I remember a young lad who assisted the bad sorceress (although he wasn't a complete baddie himself) called T Shirt and I remember the sorceress reading tea leaves and perhaps even watching people in the bottom of her tea cup. I never, ever thought that I would find this programme again so thank you so very much for uploading it!

The strange thing is that Kellie's never really been off our screens down the years. After T-Bag came The Upper Hand: www.comedy.co.uk/images/library/comedies/300x200/t/the_upper_hand.jpg Then she was Ali G's girlfriend Julie: pbs.twimg.com/media/B_0f6SyXEAAh0iE.jpg Later she was Rodney Trotter's mother in Rock and Chips: www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/01_january/15/rock3.shtml And, along with Bad Girls, there were a whole load of other things in between. But it took until EastEnders and Strictly for her to become a well-known face on television, for one reason or another. I'm glad she's finally getting the recognition, though!

Thank you for the insights- I do remember her from 'The Upper Hand', but that is only because I remember pretty much everyone from a certain era in my life for no reason at all (and these names just stuck!). I wasn't even a 'fan' of the programme- I just remembered her name at the time (and her being associated with it). I even watched it once or twice. Unfortunately the website got closed down I think maybe due to copyright or something to do with the high t website or another unknown reason and the video got blocked as well I think I haven’t been able to find it ever since it got took down and I’ve been searching for it for a while and quite a long time now I’ve been looking and the video had a different older and younger cast playing the original t bag and t shirt is all grown up like an adult age and he’s working in a cafe where he’s serving out tea too and t bag drops by and magics herself there and they discuss some of their past adventures and t shirts saying he’s never going to go on another quest again and that he’s too old as I recall from the video from 2016.

Yeah, I think I remember the site you mean. Was this the fan-made sketch that was actually written by Lee Pressman and Grant Cathro (or one of them, anyway)? I've no idea what happened to any of this - I'll have to do some digging. Have you tried the Wayback Machine? archive.org/web/ Not sure if that will be any help.

Thank you for replying. Yes I think it could possibly have been the fan made video written by Lee Pressman and Grant Cathro like you said but I don’t remember much about the credits. I might have a look at the wayback machine. Thanks again.

I'd have to say Sally Simpkins is my favourite girl in T.Bag, most likely because I used to own a video of The Pearls of Wisdom for years and therefore got used to and prefer her.

Yes, we've completed series nine a couple of days ago (kzbin.info/aero/PLYzsPPYPRRFXC30xKLPgETInME-OsyhMt), and series five and six will be uploaded in due course. We weren't originally going to bother as they're already out there in one form or another, but the final clincher was that last lot that are all squashed and stretched into widescreen. T-Bag deserves better than that (as do the loyal fans of 30-odd years)! Plus, of course, there's all the extra continuity and all that, which I for one love. :-)

Yes I agree, they are out there but not to this stranded that is why it is worth you uploading them. Always great to see such devotion form someone like yourself. And also been liking the mike and Angelo episodes to. Bringing back great memories. And Just found out they are written by the same writers as T bag. Just shows you how versatile they are.

Thank you very much - very kind of you to say, though I can't take all the credit. As for the writers, they also did Spatz and the majority of the 90s reboot of The Tomorrow People. Most people would be happy enough to come up with only one cult classic in a career!

Yes they have certainly left there mark on 80,s and 90,s Kids TV. And also I love the added bonuses of the continuity on these vids. They more then out weigh any others on here that are posted in all ways !
