For durian connoisseur like myself, I love durian that is super super bitter with no sweetness in it. The taste is heavenly like you have never tasted before. Of course, texture should be firm and at the same time creamy.

You shall go to Manting, and ask for super bitter durian from orang asli or ROADSIDE TRADER.
True, tasting is believing! Tasted Hor Lo,green skin, capri, apple,Shio Hong, Lin Fong Chio,Khung Po, Lan Chio Yen, red prawn & etc😍 Not necessary branded & expensive are good, they become boring after awhile.

Durian from Thailand can’t compete or not even close to Malaysia’s durian from all aspects because Malaysia’s durian is the best in the world!

Because 99% of Thailand's durians are harvested from the trees, unlike Malaysian durians which are picked when they have dropped. So they are not picked when they have not dropped. This is the main reason.
WangSanWang durian has many different grades, depending on which durian farm n the age of the tree. The weather also affects the quality of each durian season, better quality during a drier period from flowering ( in early March) to fruit-ripening(starting mid June to mid Aug). December mth(wet weather) durian has less drier pulps, tastes not as good as that of the summer, drier-mth.
The time a durian falls to the time it is open for consuming, will cause change of taste as fermentation proceeds. It is creamy and sweet, as fiber breaks down during fermentation to soft ice-cream like and plain, alcoholic and finally rot to taste acidic.

You weren’t tricked by the taste of black thorn. It’s supposed to be slightly bitter. I prefer it to Mao Sun
