Good you went for your lovely wife. Very cold in Taiwan. Like bone chilling cold.
Nice interview 👍! I’m glad to hear that Brandon likes Taiwan. To be more Asian friendly, many use Lunar New York 🎉! A holiday celebrated by multiple Asian countries, FYI. Besides, in Chinese or Taiwanese languages, we call it Lunar New Year 陰曆年 Farmer’s’ Calendar New Year, 農曆新年、Spring Festival 春節, or New Spring.新春。I think the American media is the culprit of proliferating the not-so-accurate phrase. I saw in person Dallas and Kansas City news media using it in their newspapers. However, the US hotshots, like Obama, choose Happy Lunar New Year in their White House greetings because they have staff of multiple Asian origins😇.
Ha! Former Microsofer from Seattle? Same here, but I'm in Bellevue. (Actually I think you mean Redmon, Bellevue, or Kirkland when you said Seattle.)

Taiwan is unquestionably THE most hospitable country in Asia, with high quality of life, rivaling that of Japan and better than that of S. Korea, but not as expensive and repressive as Hong Kong and Singapore. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on one's perspective, this isn't a very well-known fact internationally. Most importantly, the Taiwanese are the kindest and friendliest people on this planet. By the way, I am not Taiwanese. I just admire and adore this country, and yes, Taiwan is A REAL COUNTRY. Do not believe in the garbage Mainland Chinese propaganda. The quality of life in Taiwan is at least 20 times better than that in Mainland China; and the national character of the Taiwanese is 2000 times better than that of the Mainland Chinese who are among the rudest, the most uncivilized, the most deceitful, the most arrogant yet ignorant, and the most politically brainwashed people I have ever come across in my decades of travel experience.

Personally I'd rather Taiwan stays a hidden gem. 😄 But under the current situation, Being Known is for the purpose of national survival.

It does not seem that you have a civilized mind when you attack the whole population in mainland China by using the most extreme words. Mainland Chinese are governed by the Chinese communist party and they have no choice. Kindness, integrity, trust, love and faith etc in this society are greatly suppressed by the government because that's how an autocratic government keeps its political power stable. It is not the people's fault. At the same time, there are some Chinese still trying to live their lives with integrity and kindness even though they live in such a society. You just never had a chance to encounter it.

@brokenamygdala Which government? I am French-Canadian. I have visited Taiwan 8 times. Unlike the infamous "Fifty Cent party," for example, people living in democratic countries can talk freely about their likes and dislikes of any country, including even their own. So how much did China pay YOU to troll the internet?
@flyingzone356 Жыл бұрын
@brokenamygdala There are plenty of people who have lived and worked in the United States for decades without being able to get the Green Card, let alone the citizenship. There are plenty of people who are even born in the U.S. but who are still considered aliens. The path to acquiring French citizenship can be a labyrinthine journey, requiring a lot of paperwork and endless patience. In Germany, marriage alone does not automatically grant citizenship; there are many criteria to be satisfied. I do not know the specifics of your case, so I cannot comment on it. While it does seem unusual or even unreasonable, there must be some specific reasons why you cannot obtain your citizenship status that you fail to (or are too embarrassed to) disclose. Using your personal example or any personal anecdote, with undisclosed and omitted details, as the prototype for the Taiwanese naturalized citizenship process, and by extension, the flaws in the Taiwanese national character, is too much of a stretch. Not saying that everything about Taiwan is perfect. But I still maintain my opinion that Taiwan is one of the most ideal and hospitable places to live and to visit, especially in comparison to Mainland China.

@brokenamygdala My assumption, which can be wrong, is that your inability to obtain Taiwanese citizenship is due to Taiwan's dual citizenship policies. Dual citizenship is permitted in Taiwan, but only Taiwanese-born citizens can hold dual citizenship. If you acquired Taiwanese citizenship through naturalization, then the Nationality Act requires you to renounce your previous citizenship with very few particular exceptions. If you are unwilling to renounce your previous citizenship, then of course you cannot become a Taiwanese citizen. Only about 50% of the countries in the world allow dual citizenship. And even among those countries, a lot of them have certain restrictions for those who hold dual or multiple citizenships. A lot of the countries, including some of the world's most advanced democracies such as Japan, Germany, Austria, to name a few, have dual citizenship policies exactly the same as those of Taiwan's. Many countries have even more restrictive dual citizenship than Taiwan. These are not "good" or "bad" examples, as you try to imply. These are just individual countries' own policies, based on their unique historical circumstances. Having dual citizenship is a privilege, not an entitlement. For someone who believes that a country's citizenship is "bad" or "racist" just because of one's own circumstances is shockingly entitled. Foreigners like you who enjoy Taiwan's generous national healthcare system despite not being a citizen but still whine about Taiwan being undemocratic or racist should be ashamed of yourselves and your sense of entitlement.
But Taiwan subway are very good . But You can see and saw in subway , the rates are playing in USA .

Taiwan has so much potential to be the best place to live in the world just like Switzerland. However, we need to build a capable defense and build good relationships with our neighbor countries like Japan, Korea, India, and the Philippines to prevent Chinazi from spoiling our beautiful home.
