My respect for Dro has grown substantially after this interview. He’s well spoken, empathetic, and passionate about delivering this message. Addiction is strong, it’s taken most of my friends and even my only brother. After years of fighting, I still couldn’t get clean until after I was incarcerated and behind a fence, so even more respect to Dro for maintaining sobriety while in the streets. It’s hard. My rehab counselor used to say, “most people don’t change because they see the light, but because they feel the heat.” Takes rock bottom to develop that desire to change, thankful you had the opportunity to change and help others. Lots of people don’t. Today, I’m a third year veterinary student and next week I’ll be eleven years clean from opiates. It’s never too late to change, never too late to love life again. Respect to you Dro, keep spreading the message.

The guy who laughed multiple times, more likely had trauma himself. Perhaps, as a coping mechanism to deal with Dro's transparency of explaining his mental/addiction struggles in front of people, he couldn't help but to laugh. Maybe it was due to the possibility of experiencing uncomfortable emotions himself. Perhaps the guy's laughter was a way for him to mask his own undealt feelings and/or the possibility of feeling embarrassment by another Black man who went against the social norm of having to be TOUGH in the face of mental adversity. This could have caused the guy to keep laughing because it is not yet socially "acceptable" for Black men to open up about their feelings. I was happy to see Dro be transparent with his addiction. It takes strength do what Dro did. Weakness could never do that. Black men have feelings too. Now is always a good time to heal.

The dude isn't a real man for laughing at Dro for overcoming addiction as well as his daughter. Dro shouldn't have apologized. He needed to know he crossed the disrespectful line. Glad to see T.I got everything put back in order. T.I had a wild hood backstory.

I know why he apologized. We are only responsible for our behavior. No matter what the lil ignant said to him, when it's all said and done his reaction to it is what his family and folk who matter to him most will see.
